17 months quit

I received the friendly email from the iCanQuit Team for an update, so I thought i would just like to say hello to my quit friends and to offer encouragement and support. Today I am 17 months quit and have not looked back. Personally I found my quit (cold turkey) withdrawals to be mild and short lived so I was a lucky quitter. If anyone is really struggling, just know that in the scheme of things, the withdrawal days will be short in duration when compared to the rest of your lives. Good luck to all and keep on keeping on.

Thank you to all of you wonderful people. Good luck on your quit journeys. Happy holidays to all. Isn't it a great feeling being a non smoker.

Good to hear from you Steve. So glad to hear that you are doing well and that so many in your family alone have quit this habit/addiction. When we see it happening all around us, be can begin to believe that we too can achieve it. I am so happy my loved ones have found the belief in themselves. I hope all who take the time to really read our stories and comments begin to believe too.

Well said SteveJ. One size does not fit all, we are all different. For some of us its a breeze for others its frightening and the urges are too strong, but whatever and however you quit, the main thing is to know what to expect and the reasons behind your choices. Ultimately the road gets clearer your head feels saner, and your body has changed direction for the better. Thank you Dab57

    hey Dabs and happiness
I am closing in on 12 months, I tried the cold turkey trip soooooo many times but did not stick with me. I went the NRT line and aggressively and then weened. It did take a about 6months to get off the nicotine completely but have been smoke free for about 11 months. After smoking for 40 years I am so relieved, I seem to be getting there. Has been a while since I have a crave or any inkling to smoke or chew ….
I hope others read this and look at the different ways it can work for different people, my wife like you guys went turkey, my sister weened off cigarettes, my mother used NRT and my Dad went turkey. So that is just one family.

It can be done just find what works for you

Congratulations Dabs, you are an inspiration to all. I too quit cold turkey and was thankful to have only those first three days of cravings while the nicotine left my body. Accepting the decision to quit smoking has to be welcomed in both the heart and the mind i think. I wish everyone could find the journey as easy as we did. I am glad there is a great book our there by Allen Carr that helped my hubby and daughter to also quit right behind me. We can only hope more will join us on our journey to freedom. We are proof it can be done. Our stories may encourage and help others along the way.

Continued success Dabs and drop by more often as it is good hearing from you, and you always have such great advice to give.
