3rd week after quitting

I am smoking every day 15cigerettes and weekly end with alcohol +10cig from last 20 years.Totally my day starts with cigarette and ends with cigarette.Now 20days after quitting feeling good also started wakeup ealry in the morning n doing morning excersize.Now morning walk become my favorite hobby and addicted for run/walk.Feeling good and realizing the new birth in the beautiful world. But from few days feeling more cough and feeling ulcer in throat.Difficult to swallow and more cough grrenish lucus. please advice is it cough n lucus common???

    Hello and welcome to the forum Praveendvg. Medical concerns should be brought to the attention of your doctor. It may simply be the common cold , but as you have the sore throat as well....better to have it checked out if it persists.
    Coughing after quitting smoking is not unheard of. In fact I was concerned earlier on that did not cough up the residue left in my lungs from smoking. As the lungs heal themselves or get stronger, i am able to expel a deeper cough to clear the airways. Before i quit smoking, i was getting concerned at how weak my cough was. We are relieved to feel great differences in our breathing in just a few days. No more shortness of breath or wheezing.
