Sweet Tea

Day 10!

Posted in Getting started 31 Jul 2019

So today marks the 10th day of quitting smoking. I'm still on the 14 mg patch wearing it 12-14 hours per day. I have been taking it off a couple hours before bed as I think it disturbs my sleep. In fact, today I woke up shortly after 4 a.m. and after a while I finally just got up. Needless to say, I'm tired! I don't want to be a smoker anymore but it sure does seem appealing at times. I am continuing to post since this is accountability for me. I hope to hear from others who are still on the journey and making it through one day at a time. Several posts include 153 days, the one year mark, and 1,000 day mark. These are a source of encouragement. I want to be free of this and am anxious for this to become easier. Maybe after I can say day 30 or day 60, it won't continue to be the monkey on my back. Let's keep working together at this. Thanks for listening and thanks for sharing.

Good Morning Sweet tea, I am on 143 days now, yet still have to be vigilant at odd times, Day 10 DOUBLE FIGURES, believe me you are doing well.

I too had trouble with sleep in the early stages and opted for stopping any night dose, but everyone is different. I also made a list of positive thoughts on my phone (notes) which I read at night before going to sleep. one included " I will wake up refreshed and happy tomorrow"

I also started doing meditation at this time, and dozed on and off if it was too early to get up. Some experts say that 20 mins of meditation is equivalent to 3 hrs sleep, not sure of this but it worked for me.

The thing is you need to keep your perspective at these times and rest if you are tired and not worry about it. Day 11 on its way soon don't forget to give yourself a reward of some sort.

Hi Sweet tea, don't be discouraged because you are going great guns. If you can do 10 days, you have proven you are serious and you are so much stronger than you are giving yourself credit. Just focus on getting through one day at a time, don't think too far forward or it can feel overwhelming I find. Before you know it, it will be 20 days, than 1 month. Bit by bit it gets easier, so you hang in there and keep busy. Quitting can absolutely cause insomnia or drowsiness. You need to remember your body is in shock right now. You are doing the kindest thing you can do for yourself by quitting. You have nothing good to lose and so many positives to gain. Stay strong okay👍😊
