Hi nuts, yes I have suffered from heartburn since quitting too, but I don’t really think it is related to the quit. Probably just me getting older tolerant of certain foods. Haven’t had the bitter taste in my mouth though. Perhaps see your doctor if you are worried.

Hey nuts, your not nuts, I had some reflux/ heartburn prior to quitting, doc told me from smoking, still have it though, not as bad, but it is disheartening, I was taking ranitidine for it, think I mentioned before it has to do with cilia being affected, and now recovering, my doc said can take months????? that’s just me though, mention to your gp if you are concerned

I can't say I have suffered heartburn, but turning onto eating healthier at the same time as quitting smoking, I was eating way more fruit, veggies and beans.... so you im sure you get it. .....It could be your diet.....

I am sure we can live with a few flaws when we weren't perfect to begin with!(well not after age 18 at any rate!) lol

Hi Nuts, I had a few disturbing feelings in my body when trying to give up before, I attributed this to my diet as I was (full of wind) ha! Plenty of fruit and water etc, removed this problem for me.

Thanks everyone. My diet hasnt changed since quitting. I have a typical country diet. Lots of hearty home made soups and casseroles and roasts and bread and butter puddings lots of veggies. Not much fruit though. I probably eat more chocolate. Think it might be coffee. Had a cup first thing and got heartburn right away. Will test it out later. Might have to switch to tea.

No heartburn or weird tastes. But, very vivid dreams about having a cigarette. 6 months "clean" tomorrow, from tobacco.

    hi, nuts,
sorry to hear about your heartburn or ingestion problems. Gaviscon or Mylanta might help you out! If its intergestion? or simple reflux? . Keep the great abstinence up, its Nope and the only way to go

Just add a little fruit cut down on the chocolate, but dont compromise on your country soups and casseroles! I keep myself healthy cooking hearty meals too, now that is winter and -2 degrees Celsius most mornings, cold winters here.

    Hey nuts,
I make the best bread'n butter puddings, rice puddings too. Its basically eggs, milk,(powdered is better) sugar and bain marree it. At a basic level add vanilla essence and nutmeg on top of the mix. As you probably know you can add any fruit and it will cook and set. I think to those who have just Quit, food and cooking is a good alternative and distraction from smoking.

Sounds like you like chocolate and coffee. It could be that you have increased both without taking note Just a thought. Let your GP know anyway.

Hi Nuts. I was reading old stories and you commented that your husband quit 4 years before you, and that he never badgered you to quit, but said you would know when it was time. I cannot get back to your first pages since IcanQuit apparently erased your Top Story Page and prior, so I would like to ask what told you that it was the right time....

Hi Happiness. I knew i had to quit, but i enjoyed smoking (or so i thought) It was christmas day and i was sitting outside having a smoke with 2 of my daughters who were also smoking. I sat looking at them and thought , If i dont quit, they wont. I felt so guilty. What a terrible role model for my beautiful girls. Bad Mum. I made my mind up to quit. It was my new years resolution. I quit jan. 6th. With your help i havn't looked back. One of my girls has since quit, and the other one is thinking about it.
