Understanding why I smoked

It’s all “just fluff & stuff”

I’ve added fluff and other things (smoking, shopping, spending, people) into my life in an attempt to comfort an unloved vulnerable young girl, to try and make her happy, feel loved and accepted. I just wanted acceptance. I must start with self acceptance of course xx

She was abandoned and neglected at times during her childhood & she needed her only comforter and protector - her mum. However, her mum was not always available. Emotionally, & physically.

She can be there for herself now.

She is me.

And she is incredible.

I am incredible xxx

Hi Brigie, welcome to this amazing forum. I am glad to hear that you have risen above the negative circumstances and feelings you had in childhood and have come to accept and love yourself.

Everyone is deserving of the best in life that we can achieve. Quitting smoking will give you more confidence in yourself going forward as well. Accepting this journey to free with an open mind and heart will get you there so much faster than digging your heels in. Embrace the changes for the better that will be yours for the rest of your life by following through. Think positive about it and it will give you the results you are looking for.

We look forward to you being a part of our community, a place where we support and understand the tough spots some hit while quitting this vile addiction. It can be easy too if you truly want to be a non-smoker, and we hope we can erase any hesitance on your part. There is no benefits to smoking, only negatives, and the addiction can be beat! We are proof. You will be proof!

Hi Brigid, the best lesson I have learnt in life is to love yourself. If you love and respect yourself, you treat yourself so much better. We can’t change yesterday but we can change today...go girl...you owe to yourself to have the happiest and healthiest life you can...it starts now. Believe in yourself and back yourself.
You have made a great start, change negative thoughts with positive ones...make that your new habit x

Hello Brigie I am glad you are searching from the inside, it opens up the truth of why you act like you do. Doing this for yourself does mean you accept and love yourself, it also shows you what you need to change especially when it hurts you too much. You can use this in your journey with the help of others who understand your difficulties in trying to quit You are on the right track keep it going.

You cant change the past, but you can change your future. Smoking does not help anything. Be strong , give up the smokes and move on. You wont regret it

Hi Brigie, you made me choke up, I felt very connected to your comments, an Erie similarity, this is the best way for you to prove to yourself you can do anything no matter where or what your past holds. Only we can break the cycle. You got this you incredible girl.
