Dear iCanQuit Community,

We apologise for any challenges you’ve experienced with the posting and commenting functionality on the Stories and Experiences section of the iCanQuit website. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about these challenges. We are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.

We put in the ‘Top Story’ section to highlight the most active stories with the aim of making it easier for users to navigate and comment if they want to. We are hearing your feedback and will provide an update as soon as possible.

Thank you,

iCanQuit Team

I am sure that we are all relieved that our messages were seen and that the the problem will be addressed promptly. I think some members have also expressed their opinion on the new format. If a Top News is something you wish to implement then it should be after the latest stories in which people seek advice. The whole concept of forums like this are to support and advise and this is much more likely to happen when seen first thing. I do like seeing a notice of how many new stories have been posted as well.
I would like to say that this is the best site that i have used, but please, do not change something that you got right the first time. I have seen many people praise this site, please don't fix what isn't broken.

Thanks for your quick response. Happiness has said what we all are thinking. Way to go Happiness. We liked the site the way it was. We dont need top stories. We need our quit buddies and to be able to post our comments and support each other

    Thank you :)
The best, and simple fix, would be to just reload the old system..
I check in, daily, to see the latest entry, and decide if I can add anything useful, depending on what they write, and what I read into it. New, and struggling, quitters, post for help, and advise. A timely response, from someone who understands what this is like, may just make the difference between success and failure, that day...
The, Top Story, serves no purpose, except to make us scroll down to get to what matters. It was, as near perfect as one could ask.. Thank you :)

    Totally agree with red 67

Thanks to the tech team of iCanQuit for resolving the commenting and posting issues so quickly.

Might you take of survey of who likes your new format of top stories? I really think the users are who matter and should have a say.

The site just feels messy, with outdated stories. We encourage newbies to follow success stories (some top stories may be, but I haven't read them, they are OLD) Finding someone who you can relate your quit with is what matters. Number of comments means nothing. My thoughts...... anyone care to comment?

Since i can communicate with the highers may I make a suggestion?

I think it would be useful to have an introductory page where you sign in, put your quit date and method for all to see (once you feel comfortable in doing so). This would give us more information that may have been excluded when they are seeking advice. Secondly, people quitting with one method could look up the stories of people using the same method . Many people are in the background quietly, willing to learn but not necessarily participate. That is their prerogative, but this may give them better direction.

As for top stories. I used old entries to meet in private. One on one with more privacy. These may be conversations that I and others chose to remain private. I have had conversations about health issues etc.....I have also used them to try and get unsuccessful members to try again. Sometimes, the top stories have a negative feel. For a newbie coming on and reading how HARD it is rather than positive remarks is not a good start for them.

I am hoping you will reconsider top stories for these reasons. Many others have expressed a less than positive attitude toward them as well.

Should you decide to keep them, then we suggest you put them after the New postings. I hope the committee who decides these top stories takes the time to read the story and all the comments. If they had done so, they may have respected the fact that it was a private meeting that the parties chose. Sometimes by being honest about a situation, or something holding you back someone might reach you and something click. These parties had nothing to hide, yet dealing with some issues in private bring forth better understanding.

Please reconsider your stance on this issue.

While at it can you add “like” and also to be able to get a notification when someone leaves a comment on somebody else’s story where you also left a comment.

    To the Moderator

The "top Story" section may have been a good idea, but its clearly not working well enough and I think it could be scrapped or put it out of view from our "latest Story" section please. We dont see the point of old stories at the top. The old format works quite well.

    Thank you

As you can see, none of us like or want the Top Story.
  • perla del mar May 17, 2019 | 14:47
I was telling my story and then the site went away , didn`t give a chance to finish !!!!
  • Happiness May 17, 2019 | 15:29
Hi perla del mar. Your timing in posting was unfortunate, as the site has had some issues but are working diligently to correct them. Please try posting your story again (not just a comment) and you will be e-mailed when someone responds on YOUR page. That is why this site is so awesome.!

Well, you have had a day, to reload the best help forum out there...
But, we still have this mess. Seems like you want your Top Stories, more than you want users ? ? This is just too irritating ..
