Last cigarette today!

I had my last cigarette this morning.

I have attempted quitting several times, but I am determined now.

I have started coughing all night which is scaring me.

People I know are getting cancer or passing away who were smokers, so that has scared me too.

I need to quit for my health, to spend time with my husband and 4 kids, travel, have an awesome retirement etc... so many reasons.

I am determined, but often have no willpower..... BUT this is it!!!

It is more about positive thinking rather than willpower that will see you through to the end of this journey successfully. Changing your perspective on things. You are making a positive life change and not to feel that you are "giving up" anything. You Choose to have better health, wealth and happiness without a relentless time sucker . You are now aware of how it sucked you into the addiction and how the tobacco companies hope you will be loyal til your dying day.
It is illogical for us to smoke. We were not born with the need to smoke. Your body can be forgiving and restore your health to a point. I am so happy to see newcomers like yourself joining this community and having faith that they too can be free.

Hey Catfish, happy you made a good lifetime decision, you and your family deserve this. Is it easy, probably not, but not impossible to quit, its like riding a bicycle, practice and learn. Not sure if your going to use any Nicotine Replacement Therapy, there are many. My choice was not to and go cold turkey after a decrease of sticks per day, even cut down to how far down I smoked each piece. But what ever works for you please try, and remember, just one step at a time. Try distractions to avoid those craves, they only last a short time. Keep in touch here, or other sites where you can talk out your difficulties, and learn how to deal with the next several weeks or months of withdraws. READ when your thinking of smoking about the effects of smoking on your body. But for sure don't give in, its possible many have stopped and stay stopped, to improve their life, and your going to join this group too !
