Hi SuzyQ92,

I am not thin skinned. I appreciate what you are trying to say, but when what I was trying to portray, is something that is valid and pertaining to this particular issue ie smoking and the detriment of doing so, I considered it pertinent to my point. The fact that iCanQuit wanted me to water down my post, although it contained no offensive language, had information for which I wouldn't be prepared to support in a court of law, that the iCanQuit website considered perhaps "over the top", is irrespective to which I would stand by. I owe it to certain people to tell it like it is, not whatever, including iCanQuit, would like it to be. I hope, and wish, you will read my previous responses to your messages. I still, and will always remain steadfastly so, of what I initially tried to post. The fact that iCanQuit decided not to do so, was their decision alone.....theirs alone!

BTW, I have used the picture of Ben Chifley. He was our PM late 40's, early 50's. He smoked. Cigs at first, but a pipe later in life. He died of a massive heart attack aged 65.

I'm not suggesting that smoking killed him, for that would be scurrilous to even suggest that. However having said that, smoking probably would've have played a part in his demise, for any type of smoking could and does play a detrimental part in anyone's health. The information on this issue is for all of us to see, there's nothing new in what I'm saying.

For iCanQuit to block what I had to say, is detrimental for others to see what they already know. I felt this was an unsubstantiated intrusion upon freedom of speech (if anything). Telling it like it is, is no offensive than what is emblazoned on out cigarette packets that we see today.

iCanQuit, please review your website. Not every posting is by a nutter, and most certainly, not every posting contains inappropriate language.

I'm sorry SuzyQ92 I have decided to vent my frustrations with this website through your obvious concern for my welfare (mine, yours), however, this website needs to lighten up if they wish to attract more people to utilize their site.

To ignore this plea would be a travesty and an abject failure for why this site exists!

And Red-67, if you're reading this, not an expletive was forthcoming, nor will I use language to get my point across. Never have, never will.

Again SuzyQ92, I apologise for using your response to ask another respondent to issue me, Red-67, a unconditional apology for what they (He/She) accused me of. That I had use language that was totally inappropriate, was a accusation of unmitigated proportions for which you had no supporting evidence. I want you to retract that allegation unreservedly.

I dare say they won't, but I could be hopeful.

Therefore, I will end on this note. I wish all the very, very best and am forever hopeful that you will be able to kick the evil weed from your daily life.

Cheers

Candy

I left another Canadian site that I first joined because it was also too sensitive. It too was a cancer institute who ran it. You would think that they would want to be more open about the truths of cancer. However, we all know the possibilities. The problem is not that we don't believe them but that we don't believe that we can quit smoking.

Technology has made the world smaller. We can research cancer and then we can research nicotine addiction.

I did neither. I accepted that i would die as a smoker, but I knew i wanted to live, so i started researching other ways to help my body cope with smoking's ravishing effects. I took a lung cleanse of boiled onions with ginger and turmeric and didn't feel like lighting up immediately. One thing led to another and i ended up on a quit smoking site. Seeing their stories and how they did quit gave me hope.

IcanQuit offers hope. I know that I have been part of a process that helped dozens if not hundreds to quit in the two years I have joined here. I have felt your frustration with the system . The other site seemed to PUSH Nrt's. I went cold turkey . So I left and joined here hoping to be of more help. Good luck to you and I hope you continue to find the DESIRE to be smoke-free more than you ever want to have the life sucked out of you!

Well Happiness, I did it on my own. I thought that if icanquit didn't want to share my stories of gosh, my Uncle dying a slow and painful death from lung cancer (surprise, surprise, he had a boo, boo on his lungs), they thought that it would be too harsh for their followers, what do they think happens, you get a little unwell (?), then I could do without icanquit sugarcoating what are plainly facts. I have now acheived 2 years succesful quit with or without that assistance of icanquit. Thank you for sharing this with me, it's a wonder why we weren't both censored. However, I'm just this moment posting this, so it isn't a done deal.

If it of any consolation, I have been censored as well for no apparent reason on a couple of occasions. A short form or a slang term was one brought to mind. I am sorry you did not have the benefit of our forum while quitting. The mindset is of great benefit, and your experience relayed to others also helps someone. We quitters are all different, so every story counts!

They objected to the fact that my Uncle died from smoking. I told it like it was. I decided that if I can quit would not allow me to post certain info, I could do without I can quit. Tomorrow, Feb 11th is two years. I did it without the assistance of I can quit.

    Hi Candy;
Well, you did not give us much to go on, so the possibility of foul, or distasteful content was not much of a stretch.. My comment was meant to be more of an observation / question, than an accusation. So, if you took it that way, yes, you do have my sincere apologies.
That being said, I can't help but wonder, exactly what it is, or was, that the moderators, decided we could not see ? Surely, they sent you an email, explaining the decision. Maybe you can copy and paste it, for us.. They should have no objection to us seeing the reasons. ??

    To the moderators / IcanQuit.
We understand, this is a free site, and we are grateful for it, and your hard work. We have no objection to foul, or distasteful content being edited out. I would like to know what the problem was, even in a private email, and I am giving you permission, and asking you to pass my email address on to Candy, so that I can better understand what it is that you decided we should not see.
    Thank you..
