Being Trendy

Hi All, so many new people on here, which is great. It made me realise that with the cost going up, many more people are being trendy and quitting the smokes. To be a non smoker is very trendy these days which is so great. Take it one day at a time, there is no fast track, just one day at a time. Deal with each challenge as it arises...you will do your head in if you try to predict too far ahead. Doesn’t matter if you slip up, just get back on track and keep going. Happy days are coming.

For sure Robn. Gone are the days where it was cool to smoke. Smokers have become social outcasts and a minority. I am now glad that i am Trendy and don't have to feed the slave in a blizzard this winter.

Very nice to see so many new ones on the site so anxious to join the ranks of being non-smokers. I do hope they take the time to read stories and understand the mindset in particular, what ever their quit method.

Being Trendy, i even thought perhaps more people would stay with a reverse quit. Thinking outside the box. Or in it with a twist. I have seen easy quits and i have seen some far too difficult. Easy if you get the mindset, but if it can't be grasped by some, i hate to see them so unhappy and give up. A different approach may entice some back to try. I can only hope it will work for some.

Becoming a non-smoker can be easy.

Hi Robn you are quite right that being a non smoker is being trendy as being a smoker these days makes you a social outcast. I also personally agree that you shouldn't over think too far ahead or it can seem very overwhelming, the getting through each day one day at a time works good for a lot of people as that way the pressure feels less somehow. I believe breaking it down to just focusing on that day stops you feeling that it is too hard and unachievable. Very wise words Robn, as always 😊

Yes Leeann, I read some of the posts and worry that people are putting too much pressure on themselves. We can do anything for one day...that is not so hard....so just take it one day at a time. Don’t put added pressure on yourself by worrying about what it is going to be like in a week or two weeks time. Everyone’s quit is different...everyone copes in different ways...what ever works for you is right for you. Believe in yourself and you will win this fight.

Hi Robn & Happiness & Leeann!! i love being trendy! I never thought i'd join the "non smoking" crowd...i always admired them from a distance!! I didn't like to get to close to them because i knew i stunk!
It's unbelievably freeing to say the least! Not having to scout out when & where i can sneak out and smoke! I always had to wash my hands afterwards too as i couldn't stand the smell of my smoking hand!
then i'd pull out the gum or lozenge before returning to building or group! such an ordeal! i think of all these crappy moments if ever i have a whim or inkling...however..about to start month 5 and must say it has subsided considerably. it an occasional passing thought now!! :)

Its still at the forefront in my mind and sure is one of my important reasons for Quitting. The stench after a quick smoke and my embarrassment re-joining the crowd smelling of utter gunk.
    Now thats not TRENDY
