Weight gain

I was talking to a friend the other day about how a lot of people think by remaining smokers they will not put weight on. I said to her that is a wired thought process because you see a lot of over weight people who are smokers. Her reply “that is why god made black and elastic”....I thought that was hilarious.....

We all get to a point in our lives when we gain some weight...if we are lucky and live long enough. Just buy more black and elastic...and give up the poison sticks

    Hi Robn, I have gained 5kg since I have quit.... was overweight to start with but feeling very uncomfortable at the moment. I have tried to lose some before Christmas but unsuccessful.....I will go out today to look for an elastic black dress.... lol! Anyway, 2019 is for losing weight 2018 was for losing nicotine!

    I too have gained about 4kg since quitting, however I have always been skinny, so the only negative impact has been that I dont feel as comfortable at this weight. But quitting smoking did not make me put on the weight, it is what I am eating that made me gain. I take a long walk each day and I have started to decrease my food intake....and I have stopped Just walk for half an hour each day and try to keep busy, sitting for long periods is bad for us. If that fails go for the black elastic definitely.....just stay off the smokes

    So right Robn. Sitting for hours is not conducive to good health. I notice the lack of walking for the bus three days a week has made my legs feel weak. . Gotta get into black elastic too if i'm not careful and do my Zumba dance exercises! It is great to lose weight, but not good if it loss of muscle.

    I'm hearing you Robn and agree who cares about a few kilos in comparison to quitting the poison sticks. I admittedly am skinny also but have put on a few kilos since quitting. Hmmm a few kilos and choosing life - Yes please, I feel that happy to have beat that nicodemon. I think people need to get real and put it into perspective. Seriously join a gym or walk or something if a bit of weight gain bothers you but in comparison to quitting smoking pft it's nothing serious. That's how I see it. I do love and agree with the black and elastic, thats just putting it into perspective where it belongs.😂👍

    Quit first.
    Put on some extra kilos.
    One thing at a time.
    Enjoy knowing you have quit.
    When you are good and ready and realise the hardest thing you have done was to quit then think about how to shed the kilos.
    If you can overcome nicotine, then eliminating white fat foods from the diet is a breeze.
    Funny how white cigarettes and white foods are our enemies... Hmmm

    I never thought about white like that before Lis. ,,,, white bread, white rice, white flour, white potato, (sweet potato is good!) White lies, like we told about enjoying our white cigarettes and how much we enjoyed them. Our lily white addiction compared to other addictions..... ummmm

    Hopefully we can stop white-washing over the truth about what smoking has done to our health, how destructive and controlling we let it become.

    While white potatoes have more total calories, they also contain more protein and less sugar. The problem is normally the way they are cooked ie with lots of oil in chips or with heaps of butter.

    The potato, has more vitamins minerals and nutrients than traditional ‘superfoods’ avocado, bananas, beetroot, broccoli and nuts combined.

    Scientists say just one medium baked potato contains five-and-a-half times as much fiber as a banana, and more vitamin C than three avocados, according to the Daily Express.

    Additionally, potatoes contain more of the mineral selenium, a trace mineral that merges with proteins to make selenoproteins, important antioxidant enzymes that protect the body from free radicals that can damage cells and lead to chronic diseases, than seed and nut products, like peanut butter.

    White potatoes deserve a place in a balanced diet. The other white foods you listed should be kept to a minimum.
