Done it before

Posted in Getting started 15 Oct 2018

Hi all, I just started champix today setting my quit date for 22/10. I had been cutting down prior to starting. A few years ago I had managed to give up for 12 months using champix but never completed the course due to cost. I know what a lame excuse considering the cost of cigarettes. A few weak moments and bam I was hooked again. I had been talking about giving up again for a while but never made the decision until now. With it being on the PBS I will definitely do the full course this time and hopefully not weaken again. Though I have had a few ciggs today I didn't enjoy them as I would normally so I guess it's working already. In this past week I have noticed patterns that I really need to break so that's my first challenge I guess.

Hi Jacq, congrats on making this commitment,
If you feel you need to change some trigger points that may hinder your quitting journey, change them.
You have given up before so you know its not a easy habit to break, but its do-able in the right mindset.
Write often here as there is support and we all like following each others journey.
We all know very well what you are going through.
    Good luck.

Hi Jacq, tomorrow 22/10 is my quit date too. I am going 'Cold Turkey!'. I though that may be because we have the same quit dates, we could be 'Quit Buddies' and support each other on out journey. Its going to be hard but I know we both can do it. Stay positive & strong & I will be there for you if needed, as we will be in the same place on our journeys. All the very best to you.
    WE CAN DO THIS!!!! 👍😊

Hi Poss, wow cold turkey. You're so brave and I wish you the very best. I hope your first day went well. I have been practicing all week having started the champix last week and found it helped make today pretty good. I did have urges a few times but I just kept telling myself I don't need it and I will feel so much better for it, as well as kept busy. I know we CAN do this! 👍😊
