1000 days

1000 days quit today and appreciate all the help reaching this milestone. My mother passed two weeks ago and I was screaming for a cigarette. Thanks to all the help I have had here over the last 2.7 years I was able to resist until the temptation passed. Thanks Icanquit and all those who shared my journey in the early days. Dobbin.

Yes Red. Took me by surprise too. I hadn’t imagined the thought for years now but obviously we need to be on our guard. Luckily I was not complacent and kept my cold turkey quit close to my heart. Those first weeks and months quitting were really bad and hopefully I will never be stupid enough to forget them. Plus all the damage nicotine had done.

Sorry for your loss mate, wow after what nealy 3 years and you wanted one.I am not surprised you didn't have one,you went through too much to get this far,and you truly engaged the NO MATTER WHAT! mantra. All te best mate.

Hi Dobbin. I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Mum. She would be glad you resisted the urge to smoke. Wouldn't have done any good. Had you done so you would have been so disappointed. Nothing wrong with grieving. Think of the good times you had with your Mum. And how good will it be to extend your own life. Enjoy the memories and look forward to living many more of your own.

Hi Lia. Been absent for a while. Thanks for you encouragement in the early days and the advice. Yes Mum was a great person and there are nine of us siblings. The funeral was really cathartic and over 200 people attended. Like you I am still smoke free and ready to continue the quit journey. See you on the icanquit circuit.
