Today is another milestone, its 600 days today. Thanks everyone for support, this is a great site and I am so grateful I no longer pay for something that was killing me. Every quitter is a winner.

Thanks everyone for the comments, Dobbin I am always reading your posts they really are great and uplifting and must of helped so many people, I know they helped me. Thank you indigo8 this site is a lovely site, I don't live in NSW but I am very grateful to this website, it is a great international site. Rene' and Antipetal you are at the start of your journey. Keep going, I smoked for decades, smoking is not your buddy or friend, it is your greatest enemy and only you can beat it. You can do it and you will do it.

René i at the same stage as you ... I am planning on tomorrow as my quit date and trying this site out as recommended by my GP who assured me to get all supports i need. Ive smoked the bulk of of my life.... From 14/15 to now 47.
I gave for pregnancy years ago, so I know it can be done. i dont know why it is so scary to give up ... Is it the fear of being alone in my thoughts instead of sucking on a srupid cigarette. Is it fear of failure ... Is it fear of actually having to find alternatives to amuse myself when i'm bored?
I know it's such a stupid, filthy habit and so do you René ... We can do this!!

Hi. I was relieved to come across this site after, in desparation, googling: "Day 1 of stopping smoking". I joined this site a few minutes ago to be part of a community who can so relate to my situation. I set my quit date for 1 Oct. I have for decades known that I should stop - and totally get that it is just destructive on every level - I can no longer keep up the "internal "tug of war" and maintain the bondage.
