567 days

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd check in as without the support of all of my cyber friends I wouldn't have got this far. After many attempts I have been successfully not smoking for 567 days. My next goal is 678 days. I still have the occasional craving, not to mention the smoking dream but I remember how hard it was. Now I enjoy the extra money and the fact that my life isn't controlled by smoking. Smoking is an abusive partner, that takes your independence, your health and your money so it is worth a struggle to regain your freedom. I found dancing, walking, knitting and singing great diversions. Give yourselves credit for every day you're smoke free. It really is doable and just remember that you are deserve all the good stuff that not smoking brings. Reading your stories still help so Keep up the excellent efforts everyone.

Hi Feather. This post is from a while ago... Glad you are going the distance. It saddens me when some from our "group" disappear. I am up to 1331 days. Saved over $28500 from the ash tray. After 2 1/2 years I had piled on 18kgs. I figured if I cold quit cigarettes I could quit eating anything white and I did. No rice, pasta, potatoes, dairy, bread, ice-cream etc. After 9 months losing a pound a week I had ditched 19 kgs. Meantime, power to you for going the distance and when you get the urge you can deal with the weight gain. One thing at a time...

Congratulations Feather. It is good to be part of your group (although I am still a way behind you). There are still cravings but imagine how awful we'd feel if we succumbed to them. You have been strong and your strength is an inspiration.

Hi Feather. Good to hear from someone who was on the journey oh so long ago and is still smoke free. I am up to nearly day 600. It is reassuring knowing I am not "alone". Gets scary when those we started out with simply 'disappear'. It is reassuring knowing some are still having success. I can't believe I have saved well over $12000 and also no longer a social outcast. Agree with all your comments. And congratulations!
