Quitting...take 3

I am on quit attempt number 3! This time I'm using champix. I cannot seem to get past the cravings any other way. I am more determined then ever to quit, with my little girl soon to be 4, and my health slowly declining. I'm also living week to week financially so quitting is going to be a huge money saver.

So far I have planned to take the champix for 4 weeks, and then start my quit date. I will play it by ear, and if I want to quit earlier or cut down, I am consciously going to do so. I have meditation, sleeping, partner support (although he will also be quitting using champix) and gym membership...Well i actually work at a gym so ill just be there using the equipment more often :) Wish me luck! .... again

Happy New Year and best of luck! I bet you quit smoking on Champix long before four weeks. Most people are quit no later than the second week. We'll be cheering for you!

Thank you! I have done some research and have made my quit date the 9th of Jan. So far I'm on day 4 of champix and am experiencing no side effects and no cut downs or anything really. But I guess it all takes time :) My anxiety about quitting is making me smoke more I think. I can't work out what is getting me so anxious!!

Hi Sophie....well done for taking the steps you have so far. I also took Champix and have been smoke free for almost 8 months. When I started the course, I decided not to choose a specific date to quit as, as it would cause me to be anxious...so I just plodded along, noticing that i was smoking less and less each day. I got to around the 2 week mark when one morning, I lit up my cig...took 2 or 3 puffs and butted it out due to being foul...that was my last cig. So my quit day came along without any real plan..it just happened and the rest is history. This may not work for you but just thought Id put it out there. Good luck.

Hi Flora, that actually helps my anxious feelings a lot..knowing there is no real quit date. Thank you so much for sharing!
