This is my first post for 2019 and I am glad to say I have made three figures, today is day 130 (129 days completed). My quit journey has been similar to Lyn4677 and I’m glad to also declare that I am still smoke free. Thoughts of smoking still come up but I have come too far to start smoking again. Health better and need to stop putting money away in envelope as I have saved over $3600 whic...

    Life after NRT

I was planning on waiting till after New Year to post my experiences on coming off NRT, however Happiness convinced me to post this earlier. In my last two posts I described how 12 weeks on NRT has worked for me to give up the smoking habit and also my concerns about giving up NRT and finally being nicotine free. 7 days, 20 hours and 49 mins without NRT and counting, well at least my pho...

Today is my last day on NRT. As of midnight tonight I will start counting hours, days and months nicotine free and not just smoke free. 12 weeks on NRT has worked for me to give up the smoking habit, I know many espouse cold turkey or other methods such as Champix etc. My only advice is use what ever works for you and if one method doesn't work try another, we are all different and the only th...

    Quitting NRT

I have completed 75 days free from cigarettes with the help Nicorrette spay. I now have had close to zero thoughts about smoking cigarettes in over a month, however I do worry a little that I may be addicted to the spray. I intend to stop the NRT in just over a week, that will be the 12 week mark. My plan is to cut down the number of times I use the spay every day until I stop and then I can be n...

    Light Bulb Moment

Reached day 38 watching TV and was thinking about opening a packet of cigarettes and having a smoke. The strange thing was that instead of wanting to smoke a cigarette the picture in my mind was that smoking a cigarette was disgusting and I didn't want to breath in that smoke. I know I am still addicted to nicotine as I am using nicorrete spray, however this is the first time I can remember that ...

Read my last post and thought about how I felt then, it was only day 11. Was amazed that I have now passed the one month stage, a month seemed a long way off when I last posted. Still use NRT at this stage which helps, I don't know if its the nicotine or just in my head/habit, however it works for now. I still haven't told my wife that I have Quit. I know she has noticed however I will tell her s...

    Starting Day 11

Just some observations I how things have been recently. Day 9 was hard, especially in the evening as I was around some smokers and I could have killed for a cigarette. Strangely next day I hardly had any cravings at all and only used Nicorette spray three times all day. See how today goes, day 9 was a warning of how easy you could give in to smoking again and to remain committed to giving up the ...

Smoke Free now for 2D 23H and 49min. I have been a smoker for 50 years, now almost 62. I have tried to quit dozens of times and failed, this time I will beat the addiction. Willpower and a little help with Nicorette spray. A day at a time, more money to compete in my chosen sport and better health to compete and win in my age group.
