Day 66 still smoke free it was tough at first but getting easier
I have schizophrenia. I seem to need nicotine, whenever I go without it my mental health suffers dramatically. I'm 5 months smoke free now, but it took a full year of constant trying to get quit. I had to quit because I couldn't afford it (I'm on the pension)
After trying everything, in the end it was champix that got me smoke free, but after a month or so I was dying to buy cigare...
I can't believe after 35 years of smoking that at noon today I am 1 year smoke free. Ironically, I did not plan to quit. On Oct 14th last year I got the mail and we had received a HUGE premium increase on our health insurance because my husband and I were smokers. I said "I am not paying that, I quit". And I did. I never smoked another cigarette, I didn't smoke a "good bye" cig, I didn't make a b...
So i made it a week.
When i realised the pack i bought was gone in less than 40 hours, the guilt and shame really kicked in.
To think of the damage i must be doing to my body and health made me sick.
But my son reminded me with the innocence of a baby, what life is really all about. Having fun and being happy.
Cigarettes to not make me happy and all that coughing is not fun.
So it's been a month already since I quit smoking. The time has flown by really. I remember posting here when I was 2 days quit. Thanks to everyone here for their support :)
All in all it's getting easier. But as I've said in other posts, sometimes I still feel that urge to have a cigarette. However I resist so all good. But relating to how others feel, it gets annoying at times.
It takes a lon...

131 days of no smoking 💪💪💪
Hi Fellow non-smokers,
It is always good to check in here and see how people are doing with their quit journey. I am 4 months smoke free. I love the freedom of not being a slave to the nicotine stick.
I am thankful to my family for being supportive through my mood swing period. The quitzits are reducing, thank god. I have gained a bit of weight but it's no biggie.
To whoever out there think...
Feeling happy with myself...Have given the kids a few lil treats with the money I'd waste on cigs usually!

Still one day at a time, but working on my mindset!
