Hello - I am a 32 year-old American man. I have smoked for most of my adult life. I have been sober from alcohol and drugs for over 4.5 years now, and I desperately want to be smoke-free. I have had some success in the past with nicotine gum and patches - however, I really want to be free of nicotine, completely. I have had several quit attempts since the new year, and am having a really hard tim...
I always can quit for around 4 days then if I feel like going out to a club I always get a pack of cigs because it sought of goes with it for me and seems like more fun and enjoyment while having a drinks.
When anxiety hits me, smoking is making it more worst.
After ending up in hospital diagnosed with PVD(clotted artery in groin)... that was enough for me to wake up and smell the roses..... well anything other than cigarettes really!!!!
I think that if i can beat the addiction that cigarettes hold over me, then it would really be a turning point in my life. I want to see my kids grow up and the more they tell me not to smoke, the more motivated it makes me. I need to get past the first week smoke-free, fingers crossed I find a way how.
Hi all. So I have and did start smoking again. Very silly I no. But the thing is with every smoke I was having I was very aware of my health and it could take just 1 smoke to.put me back to square 1. I do no my thyroid cancer was not caused with smoking but it sure as h#ll does not help atal. So I realised well I am not enjoying this now because I'm scared of what it is doing to me or what it co...
How often have you wished the boss would simply offer you a pay rise? Or maybe, how often have you thought of asking for one? As a smoker, you are likely to give yourself a pay rise if you just quit burning money. How does a $300+ pay rise per week sound? That is how much quitting can potentially put into your pay packet. Not bad. Won't get that from the boss. Better still, as a non smoker, you h...
I am glad to be part of this community. I have tried to quit smoking many times. I did quit and didn't smoke for 14 years. I stayed quit because I got pneumonia and bronchitis. I started smoking again when I thought I had this licked and could just smoke a few and then be done. NOT! I tried again many times and did stay quit but only when I was in the hospital. Now I have lung problems aga...

Reason for quitting for me is because I have multiple blood clots in my lungs due to a thrombosis in my leg, and was told that my smoking was not going to help me at all. Stopping immediately is the best thing I have ever done.

I quit smoking after 13 years of half a pack a day about 2.5 months ago! I quit because I developed a tickle in my throat and persistent cough. I thought when I quit it would go away but it sadly hasn’t and now I also get food stuck in my throat. So looking at Dr Google, it would suggest I will die from throat cancer! I talked to my doctor about it and he didn’t really give it much attention. He ...

My friends ( 3 of them in past 5 months) ...all from my age group of 45 to 50...suffered heart attacks. All 3 of them had started smoking with me on same day in 1994 along with 4 more guys ( at graduation party we decided to try it just for sake of trying). We all smoked since 1994. We all tried to quit unsucessfully.
First guy (Vinod) suffered heart attack in March. Passed away.

I recently quit smoking cigarettes around the second week in April. I quit for my family and myself but mostly cuz I was having throat issues. Felt a tightness in my throat. So after a month and a half that feeling still hasn't gone away and intensifies during dinner or when I eat. No issues when I go to sleep though. Been also spitting out a lot of brown stuff. Went to my pcp last week and he ga...
