I am glad to be part of this community. I have tried to quit smoking many times. I did quit and didn't smoke for 14 years. I stayed quit because I got pneumonia and bronchitis. I started smoking again when I thought I had this licked and could just smoke a few and then be done. NOT! I tried again many times and did stay quit but only when I was in the hospital. Now I have lung problems aga...

Reason for quitting for me is because I have multiple blood clots in my lungs due to a thrombosis in my leg, and was told that my smoking was not going to help me at all. Stopping immediately is the best thing I have ever done.

I quit smoking after 13 years of half a pack a day about 2.5 months ago! I quit because I developed a tickle in my throat and persistent cough. I thought when I quit it would go away but it sadly hasn’t and now I also get food stuck in my throat. So looking at Dr Google, it would suggest I will die from throat cancer! I talked to my doctor about it and he didn’t really give it much attention. He ...

My friends ( 3 of them in past 5 months) ...all from my age group of 45 to 50...suffered heart attacks. All 3 of them had started smoking with me on same day in 1994 along with 4 more guys ( at graduation party we decided to try it just for sake of trying). We all smoked since 1994. We all tried to quit unsucessfully.
First guy (Vinod) suffered heart attack in March. Passed away.
This made us ...
I recently quit smoking cigarettes around the second week in April. I quit for my family and myself but mostly cuz I was having throat issues. Felt a tightness in my throat. So after a month and a half that feeling still hasn't gone away and intensifies during dinner or when I eat. No issues when I go to sleep though. Been also spitting out a lot of brown stuff. Went to my pcp last week and he ga...

i quit 11 days ago when i had a heart attack
As someone diagnosed as bipolar, I used to rationalize smoking thinking it helped with stress, anxiety and depression. There is now, however, solid evidence showing by stopping smoking you reduce stress anxiety and depression as you're not spending over half the day in the state of withdrawal between cigarettes. Therefore, if you want better mental health, which everyone does, stop and stay off c...
Having been put off work due to Covid19 and mornings of coughing and breathing difficulties it’s time to give them up (again)
I’ve recently found out my blood pressure is beyond high, and that smoking is not helping this situation.
I am only 30 years old with 2 little children. Heart attacks and strokes run in my family. So I’m wanting to cut down to quit while using patches and gum to help take the edge off. I suffer severe anxiety and clinical depression, which has been my excuse in the past of why not to quit. But ...
What I am finding helpful is using images (Internet) to reinforce the reasons I want to quit for instance I used an image of a man having a heart attack and a picture of a 70 year old man finishing a 10K marathon to illustrate my prime reason for quitting-Health, I keep these images in my Quit Smoking blog on my computer and refer to them when I am having a craving, this reinforces my resolve to...
I've tried several ways of quitting. This time I have consulted my GP and I am going down the prescription method.
For me this is a reality check. My mother has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So I'm not only doing it this time for me but as a promise to her.
Any positive feedback regarding Champix would be greatly appreciated. Please hold on to your negative ones at this ...
So I’m 33 yrs old and I have decided today that i wanna stop smoking for good. I smoke a pack or 2 a day sometimes less. I’m desperate to know the quickest way to quit. I don’t feel healthy at all, my heart kinda aches sometimes (literally) and I’m also afraid of this Coronavirus pandemic being smokers are of high risk too. A lot people tell me to quit cold turkey but I am findin...
Being quit makes me feel like I can accomplish anything. It is a great feeling to be free; I was a cog in the machine. I feel like it is the things I should not do are the things I am looking out for. Tjere are more than cigarettes.
I am trying hard to cut back on caffeine and sugar. Soda. I could feel and look great at the end of this. I think it. I also should grow my hair out and just gener...
Have smoked for about 30years. Been contemplating quitting smoking for a while. Had a major health scare 2 weeks ago. Haven't smoked since using a patch every other day. Some days are harder than others. Feels strange but good being a non smoker. Not too many cravings but definitely eating more which scares me as I don't want to put on weight. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how di...
