After being diagnosed with being borderline COPD more than 3 years ago and just quit 5 months now, i was afraid to go to the doctors for a physical. No doubt that I felt great even after a few weeks of quitting and had no more breathlessness episodes, but i was concerned that i did not cough black tar out of my lungs as expected. Everyone is different, but i can feel more power in my lungs to exp...
Today I went to a check up appointment for my dental cyst. They said that I should have a procedure removing it after all - dental cystostomy. I can't stop but wonder if me smoking is the reason it all started happening in the first place, but I'm sure it made it worse. So now, with two teeth less and one 'surgery' more I'm laughing at my old self - I started smoking because of stress... Treat yo...
Every day I smoked my breathing got that little bit worse.
Think of the money I'll save for an overseas holiday
Don’t give up
As I mentioned before, I quit smoking on December 10, 2018. I did so because that's the day I had surgery and spent 9 days in the hospital.
All of my health issues can be attributed to smoking.
Today I had to have a heart stress test done, to see if I have done any damage to it.
I will get the results next month.
I feel so much better now. I only wish everyone could quit like I did. Not that ...
I had been smoking for 55 years & have had years of stopping & starting for years. I have COPD but was in complete denial re the seriousness of my addiction & it’s impact on my life in so many ways. I have now been meditating daily with the Breethe app which features Addiction as well as many other meditations. It had helped a great deal & I am hoping that this time IQuit for good. I feel like a ...
I am 23 years old and i was a smoker for 12 years - currently on my 13th day smoke free using nicabate patches. I have had depression and generalized anxiety for 12 -13 years now which is one of the reasons i want to quit for good. My top reason would be to half my chances of getting a disease - in just the past year i have had 4 people be diagnosed with some forum of cancer, including operations...

I am 58 years old and smoked for 43 years of that, smoked between 15 to 30 a day. Tried many times to give up prior without success. Was diagnosed with emphysema back in September 18 and gave up cold turkey that day. Now six months on have lost all cravings for them, even with my wife still smoking in the house and around me. Feel so much better, exercise and walk ever day to help keep my lungs c...
Do it for someone you love it changes everything when your not just thinking about yourself and your thinking about your family or friends the world seems more worth while.
Just on 3 1/2 years quit and still can’t quite believe I did it after 53 years of self and family abuse.
Yes the early months were difficult but once my mind engaged in quitting 100% then things got easier.
There are numerous ways of quitting but I took a selfie of myself smoking my last cigarette and went totally cold turkey. Still got that selfie as a reminder.
Benefits as below

Read a book about quitting
The 19th is my birthday.
The first one in 43 years in which I will not be smoking.
I am now 10 weeks smoke free (Dec.10).
I can only say this- do whatever you can to not pick up that cigarette again. You won't regret it.
I have a rare form of psoriasis which is mostly found in those who smoke . I’m quitting to improve the health of my skin
I am not thin skinned. I appreciate what you are trying to say, but when what I was trying to portray, is something that is valid and pertaining to this particular issue ie smoking and the detriment of doing so, I considered it pertinent to my point. The fact that iCanQuit wanted me to water down my post, although it contained no offensive language, had information for which I ...
1351 days and counting the Dollars and no doubt extra days on the planet. I have enjoyed tossing some of the $30000 saved into my mortgages and some on trips, shoes, clothes and expensive bling. Besides, anything I spend is pretty much what would have been in an ash tray. I call it Ash Money. Much less stress when there is money in the bank. I wonder how many on this site feel stress pangs becaus...
I quit because I had to have major abdominal surgery. I spent 9 days in the hospital so I couldn't smoke. I wasn't about to go back to it when I was discharged. I look at my 10 in scar and know that I can't smoke again.
One of the most pervasive aspects of smoking is the smell., and how it gets in everything in your home.
As a smoker you tend to scoff at the "Passive smoking" effect, but on giving up you quickly realise when walking past someone smoking how it stinks. It takes many many washes of all the clothes in your possession and a lot of Glen 20 at home on bedding, curtains and the like and things l...
When you quit everyday invest the money you spent on cigarettes on a investment thats what I am doing
For those that come here for some guidance for a quit that you do not really want but is necessary to live a full life, we commensurate. Many of us have for sure been there or have faced with a future reality that it will become necessary one day. A real choice. Live or die. It does not make the journey easier. The choice is no longer yours and you feel out of control. Personally, i love having ...
Just in time they have changed the categories to money and family. I am torn between working part-time as a waitress and retiring. My kids seem to spend any extra money, whereas i have had hard times in earlier years and tend to be a saver. I do help my kids by enabling them to raise their kids in by house for nominal rent... meaning it pays mine elsewhere.
Liberal gov. does not give me any inc...
