Can anyone tell me the benefits of eating carrots when quitting smoking please
I've been surrounded by smokers all my life and am now 100% smoke-free. Recently I've actually been collecting stories from people who quit and have got some fantastic quitting ideas, and I hope it can inspire others. Some of the stories I've read include quitting for the sake of your new child, quitting to be accountable to your partner, quitting after trying a particularly nasty cigarette and m...
Associate yourself to new place where your old habit reminds you, keep walking in new places/garden/mountains and breathe (deep breathe) after 1 month and observe what you missed when your able to breathe easily and deeply... :-)
Each time you smoke, you are:-
1. Literally burning a part of your hard earned money
2. Feeding dangerous chemicals to your body
3. Going away from lofe with each puff
4. increasing the risk of unhealthy death
i believe none of the above is warranted in a sane person's life
I was diagnosed of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2012 at the age of 63. I had been a heavy smoker, my symptoms started out with dry cough and shortness of breath, i ended up in the hospital, on a ventilator. I should have known it was coming, but like most smokers, thought it would never happen to me. My COPD got significantly worse and unbearable because of my difficulty catchi...
Drink lots of fruit smoothies - I am 33 days quite after 40 years and noticed that I get so thirsty all the time. So I have been drinking losts of fruite smoothies and boy are they good.
I'm using patches and found that the 1st couple of weeks was easier for me to also carry the nicotine lozenges. I'd only take one when the cravings got bad. After that first couple of weeks I didn't need them anymore, until I went to step two with the patch for the first week. I will do the same when I go to step 3. And probably carry them when I'm done with the patch for awhile, just in case. I'...
I don't know what I am doing differently but I am still smoke free. I get up for a couple of hours most nights. I prayed about it every day. I was so determined not to smoke over sleep deprivation. I was putting myself to bed early each night. Then I would wake up in the middle of the night. I figured if I took up smoking because of lack of sleep I would never be able to stop. Lately I have slept...
I have lot count at the amount of times I have tried to stop smoking.
Today is day 2, see whether I can succeed this time.
I am using a tea spoon of cream of tartar in a glass of fresh juice, morning and afternoon, meant to rid of any nicotine cravings.
So far so good.
Had been smoking for 50 years apart from a couple of short breaks...Anyone with a similar habit knows how hard it is to quit, besides which I have always considered it as one of the few things I do well.Smoking consists of basically two things - The Addiction to nicotine and the Habit....Sticking it in your mouth, lighting it, smoking it and sharing with your friends..Now the addiction is the eas...

After 25 Years and multiple times of trying to quit - I think I'm done with Cigarettes.
I tried everything to quit then a friend of mine introduced me to Pod Type E-Cigarettes - These were the small Pod type called Juul.
So I got on line and bought a couple with 5% Nicotine.
I was able to give the cigarettes away immediately.
After 3 months I have recently given these away and now oc...
Read that again
I love this one because of the whole internal battle crap. This brings me some perspective & helps calm my frantic mind. "This is only a blip on my timeline & it isn't even close to any of the other battles I have overcome. Keep it moving forward & don't look back, you don't live there anymore." This is one of the things I am trying for self talk.
It isn't as late tonight as...
Good evening (late afternoon for some) folks. I have spent some tie on the site reading the new stories since my last visit. One story scared me, but most inspired me. I got to thinking about a comment by Happiness when I mentioned my notebook full of motivational quotes. She suggested I post them in a story & I said I would. I haven't gotten to that post yet. I just came up with an idea tonight ...
Quitting smoking is as easy or difficult as you make it.
I was going through some favourite stories and found a link within one that i missed. It is truly inspiring and instrumental in changing the mindset . I attitribute my easy quit to learning the truths about nicotine. I hope you all will follow the link that Jeremiah Say was so kind as to post. When you arrive , click on his circle photo ...
In my quit smoking survival kit i have:
1. Kava capsules or powder for quitting smoking side effects like irritability. They have helped alot at keeping me calm.
2. Fidget toy sutch as a stress ball or fidget spinner.
3. Symbolic friendly reminders, i have a coin to symbolize the mony i am saving and a feather to remind me of my freedom of addiction.
4. Cuticle Oil and a good lip balm. Just ...
I am the type of person that loves music. I listen to it whenever I get the chance. To/from/at work, cleaning, gardening, going on a walk by myself. Every song on my ipod has spoke to me in some way. So awhile back I decided to create a playlist of songs that motivate me to quit (it's a work in progress). I can tell you why each song made the playlist. Sometimes it was only one line in the song t...
We tend to dwell on the cravings after we stop smoking without realizing that although we do have these "thoughts" of wanting a smoke, that is what we did tens of times a day when we actually did smoke. Such is the nicotine addiction that it's schedule had us lighting up every few minutes to appease its appetite.
These cravings will go away whether we feed them or not.
Now that we are non...
So what is a craving? We hear so much about these cravings that it has prevented us from even thinking about quitting smoking in fear of them. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear can immobilize you into doing nothing, which can be harmful in itself.
Through knowledge and learning about yourself you can rid of the fear that prevents you from taking the steps to quit smoking.
Hey guys I’m day 2 and I’m wondering if anyone else experienced being really tired and headaches.. how long does this usually last for? Not giving up! But just need some advice.
I started smoking since I was 12-year-old and had attempted quitting more than 30 times.
It was the most challenging and arduous task I have ever undertaken.
Quitting was difficult because I believed that I had given up a real 'pleasure' or 'enjoyment.'
I deprived myself of a thing that I thought would give me 'happiness' it was no wonder why I envied smokers.
But as soon as I unde...
I recently discovered that my old links for his book do not work. I did manage to find this page and the author gives a PDF link about three lines down. He also writes some brief notes about the book and what he got out of it. I do not like the fact that he "skimmed through the book" as Allan Carr request that you read and absorb every word until you understand the concept.
This is a must read ...

Stress Ball Satisfaction

I would have to say that one of the things that has helped me to quit for the 9 days that I have are the 2 stress balls that I bought to occupy my hands. One is a stegosaurus dinosaur and when I squeeze it, green bubbles ooze out the sides. I have another one that is pink, and it has tiny gel like be...
Hey guys! I’m aiming to be quit smoking by the 1st of July and I’m wanting advice I’m defiantly ready but I want to be prepared. Tell me how you quick. 💕
It’s all “just fluff & stuff”
I’ve added fluff and other things (smoking, shopping, spending, people) into my life in an attempt to comfort an unloved vulnerable young girl, to try and make her happy, feel loved and accepted. I just wanted acceptance. I must start with self acceptance of course xx
She was abandoned and neglected at times during her childhood & she needed her only comforter and...
I have a very hectic life very stressful which I would always head straight for a smoke and I don’t want to replace smokes with food.
I’m just wondering how people work through basically life’s challenges how they have worked through it especially in the first couple of days. Please I would love to hear from your experiences
Here are my most effective ways I combat urges to smoke:
1. Chew toffee or a treat that’ll take some time to eat. Chewing gum is fine.
2. Think about the consequences of smoking and the fact that lung cancer is the deadliest type of cancer
3. If you’re a guy... masturbate. No I’m not kidding. It’s gonna get your mind completely off it and give you the dopamine your brain so desperately needs....
I'm have quit with Champix and this is my 12th day of being smoke free today. I'd like to share some of my methods with you. If one of them helps a single person I'm happy.
1. I've written the reasons why I want to quit on the inside of my fingers. So every time I get a craving I read: Health, kids, longevity, money.
2. After reading it I do some deep beating for 30 seconds and am happy th...
Hi new quitters! Congrats are getting this far in your quit. I often see new quitters ask when it will get better. My pro opinion (and at 32 months I’m allowed to have one) is that things start to mentally improve on Day 8. Day one is fairly easy. Day two makes you wonder if you can do this. Day three is the WORST because your brain just figured out what’s going on. Day four your brain is hav...
