To commit one needs to accept to bad and what sacrifices must be made to achieve the good.
Remember that you are choosing you.

I quit smoking 5 years ago, and today I am a proud mother of two living with my husband in South Africa, Western cape
I struggled many years trying to quit smoking. There's nothing I didn't try.
I tried Allen Carr's program and went through what Abrahamson had to offer....

Hi guys, I’ve tried champix and I find it great except it gives me dreams all night so I woke up exhausted and it also breaks my skin out. I have literally cut a tablet in half to only have a smaller dose. It helps to make my skin less bad but still effects my sleep. Has anyone taken it at night instead and found that helps? Has anyone had the same experience?
I want to take it to help me quit ...
Everyone's quit is different. Some want to avoid temptations and triggers while others want to see and feel that they are making the CHOICE. That is empowerment as I see it. When we want something else more than the temptation. When we simply make up our minds to do something because we WANT to. It really is much easier.
I had always felt the first step to quitting smoking was to find the...
there has been rumors going around on this website
4 all those who say i am a 'negative being' on this website ... who is telling u 2 read my stories ? 2 read my comments ? that is all u on, this is my right of speech

Reading Allen Carr’s book- ‘Stop Smoking Now’ is a great help.
So I think I had a personal breakthrough when it comes to managing those disgusting cravings that used to pop up every now and then. I used to use sheer will to fight it off, by telling my self "I can't smoke a cigarette. I shouldn't smoke. I wont smoke." All the while I subconsciously thought about the words "smoke" and "cigarette."
Thinking that way only made things worse. Every time I told ...
First, i want to say Hello to everyone in here. Now i’m willing to share my strategy which is i using at the moment to beating of craving or to calm my feeling down.
i use smartphone and i decided to write down words ‘ No More Drug, Happy Family’ and i took picture and i set up in my lock screen. and i set up my beautiful family picture ( me, wife, daughter, son, daughter) in my home screen. so ...
I am glad my test posted, so I will try again.
We have been brainwashed for years.
We are not weak willed. We were so determined to teach ourselves to smoke despite the foul taste and gagging. We were told it was bad , unhealthy, but not ADDICTIVE. And if that was mentioned, we were young and it tasted so "Yuck" that was hard to believe. We just wanted to present a new image and fit in wit...
I am testing here before writing and no post. Read the next entry called QUITTING SMOKING CAN BE EASY! REPEAT QUITTING SMOKING CAN BE EASY! We need to undo all the brainwashing. That is not to say that you may find it hard, but QUITTING SMOKING CAN BE EASY!
I was craving them so much it was like a hallucinary experience for me to get at them again. My Mom got me some patches to really do the trick and make it all go away once I made my mind up: no more of it!
though it has been sum months, i have returned back to this beloved site to let u all know that u have not driven me off it.
i understand the bullying u all were doing was to drive me off- both this website and my journey on quitting smoking.
i missed u all, esp happiness. my biggest fan through-out this journey. i will be updating u all on my recent adventures.

Hi everyone still on the non smoking train
I am still struggling with cravings.
Especially first thing in the morning.
The minute I open my eyes it's a feeling of o wait I don't smoke anymore and I fell a downer feeling happening and I don't like it.
Why this happens I do not no.
Yes I am happy that I no longer smoke but I think it's still fresh in the mind I no longer smoke.
Drink mint water it works trust me
This addiction is actually helping me stop other addictions too!
its important to keep an online journal so you can always look inside and see how long you have quit, this gives you strength on a challenging day, it gives you a pat on the back and this will make you the ultimate winner!! Thanks God for this great community!!
I'm stunned at how few resources there are in Australia to support people who want to quit smoking - this website is the most i could find, and its not really a forum but more for people to put a few 'stories' here and there.
We have the world's most expensive cigarettes! though all the government websites/resources are shallow and hollow.
Any recommendations for podcasts or YouTube channels for quit smoking journeys? For those sleepless nights :)
How's is everybody doing with the no smoking journey.
It's a hard one to beat but you can do it with the right mindset.
I'm 128 days smoke free. Had 2 slip up over a month ago but that was it.
It does get easier as time go's on.
How did everyone start there journey?
Interested to no how you all started
I myself went cold turkey

Is it normal to have a slip up with smoking?
I mean I had done 3 solid months of nothing cold turkey
And then 1 day it was like over whelming cravings that really took over and I give it? Does all ex smokers get this feeling.
I think I am doing Okie still
I no I did slip up and I'm really annoyed at that.
But i am still moving on counting days like that didn't happen.
other than being harassed on this website, i am taking amazing dubs.
the man that makes me feel young is out of the door and back with the man who has a plethora of mental issues. but we can work on that another time.
i am feeling, free. like an unwashed hippie in the 70s. i am zen
-chwoe, finally at peace
Hi all I am now 91 days smoke free. I really can't believe I just said that but it is a great feeling.
13 weeks today.
I do still if I'm honest crave a smoke but it's only a thought it passes as always. But gosh it does get me at the worst times.
Like today on my way home from shopping we drive for 1 hour and coming back into town i had that feeling of ah we are almost home the 1st thing I use...
When I have a craving - I take a really big beautiful breath of air in. Before I quit, I couldn't take a big breath of air in because my lungs hurt a bit and I'd cough; the whole breathing experience was a bit laced with anxiety to be honest. (I knew that if I continued smoking my COPD would get worse and I'd have to drag around an oxygen tank when I was old) So in a sense, taking a big breath in...
Hello everyone :)
Quitting with the smoking addiction was the start of a new chapter in my life, which lead me to a much better path. This has inspired me to help others achieve this, because I want everyone to able to live a heathy lifestyle.
Im already helping two test clients with success on the journey to stop smoking completely. As I want to perfect my method and gain more experience, ...
today i received my package from the government to help my journey on quitting smoking. the package has humbled me, because i only got books on how to stop smoking and some silly little magnets.
i didn't even get a vape or anything, scomo continues to disappoint me.
Every time I write a post and try to post it,I get a message that it’s flagged up with offensive content and won’t let me post it ,so frustrating the messages are as clean as a whistle
(12) Today was easy!
Listen to what I am saying: “Going the entire day without smoking was easier than anything else I did today.” Now consider this . . . I am a 73 year-old man who smoked anywhere from a pack to three packs of cigarettes a day for 53 years of his life. I also happen to have celebrated 8 years of being nicotine free on July 12, 2020. If anyone had told me on July 11, 2012 that I...
It came to the point that without a cigarette, I was sure that I hallucinated this whole no-more stuff. The pleasures of being without a cigarette at all for 380 days are done deal, and it feels like a new rmd.
I keep trying to put in 'whole'; being smokefree anymore makes me feel whole. Now...if I can place healthy activities in my daily routine...this will be a year to remember. Not many of...
For me just hanging out with smokers when they smoke (restaurants, pubs, work) helps me a lot. I have smoked for 43 years and going cold turkey for the 2nd time in my life. The first time was around 20 years ago and lasted 6 months. Fingers crossed this time around.
When I wanted to stop my 60 full strength a day habit I thought about what might happen if I was marooned on an island, my thoughts would be food and water .
I don't believe that under these circumstances the need for a cigarette would come into anyone's mind.
So I considered that I had put myself on an island and a cigarette was not an option, here I am 22 years later, never since have I had o...
A little about myself is I use to be addicted to substances for years but now have the freedom we all deserve. Since then I became heavily involved in self education self help and personal development. I hope the knowledge in this book can help someone.
Can anyone tell me the benefits of eating carrots when quitting smoking please
I've been surrounded by smokers all my life and am now 100% smoke-free. Recently I've actually been collecting stories from people who quit and have got some fantastic quitting ideas, and I hope it can inspire others. Some of the stories I've read include quitting for the sake of your new child, quitting to be accountable to your partner, quitting after trying a particularly nasty cigarette and m...
Associate yourself to new place where your old habit reminds you, keep walking in new places/garden/mountains and breathe (deep breathe) after 1 month and observe what you missed when your able to breathe easily and deeply... :-)
Each time you smoke, you are:-
1. Literally burning a part of your hard earned money
2. Feeding dangerous chemicals to your body
3. Going away from lofe with each puff
4. increasing the risk of unhealthy death
i believe none of the above is warranted in a sane person's life
I was diagnosed of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2012 at the age of 63. I had been a heavy smoker, my symptoms started out with dry cough and shortness of breath, i ended up in the hospital, on a ventilator. I should have known it was coming, but like most smokers, thought it would never happen to me. My COPD got significantly worse and unbearable because of my difficulty catchi...
Drink lots of fruit smoothies - I am 33 days quite after 40 years and noticed that I get so thirsty all the time. So I have been drinking losts of fruite smoothies and boy are they good.
I'm using patches and found that the 1st couple of weeks was easier for me to also carry the nicotine lozenges. I'd only take one when the cravings got bad. After that first couple of weeks I didn't need them anymore, until I went to step two with the patch for the first week. I will do the same when I go to step 3. And probably carry them when I'm done with the patch for awhile, just in case. I'...
I don't know what I am doing differently but I am still smoke free. I get up for a couple of hours most nights. I prayed about it every day. I was so determined not to smoke over sleep deprivation. I was putting myself to bed early each night. Then I would wake up in the middle of the night. I figured if I took up smoking because of lack of sleep I would never be able to stop. Lately I have slept...
I have lot count at the amount of times I have tried to stop smoking.
Today is day 2, see whether I can succeed this time.
I am using a tea spoon of cream of tartar in a glass of fresh juice, morning and afternoon, meant to rid of any nicotine cravings.
So far so good.
Had been smoking for 50 years apart from a couple of short breaks...Anyone with a similar habit knows how hard it is to quit, besides which I have always considered it as one of the few things I do well.Smoking consists of basically two things - The Addiction to nicotine and the Habit....Sticking it in your mouth, lighting it, smoking it and sharing with your friends..Now the addiction is the eas...
i smoked for a 5 years and searched for a way too stop smoking.

After 25 Years and multiple times of trying to quit - I think I'm done with Cigarettes.
I tried everything to quit then a friend of mine introduced me to Pod Type E-Cigarettes - These were the small Pod type called Juul.
So I got on line and bought a couple with 5% Nicotine.
I was able to give the cigarettes away immediately.
After 3 months I have recently given these away and now oc...
Read that again
I love this one because of the whole internal battle crap. This brings me some perspective & helps calm my frantic mind. "This is only a blip on my timeline & it isn't even close to any of the other battles I have overcome. Keep it moving forward & don't look back, you don't live there anymore." This is one of the things I am trying for self talk.
It isn't as late tonight as...
Good evening (late afternoon for some) folks. I have spent some tie on the site reading the new stories since my last visit. One story scared me, but most inspired me. I got to thinking about a comment by Happiness when I mentioned my notebook full of motivational quotes. She suggested I post them in a story & I said I would. I haven't gotten to that post yet. I just came up with an idea tonight ...
Quitting smoking is as easy or difficult as you make it.
I was going through some favourite stories and found a link within one that i missed. It is truly inspiring and instrumental in changing the mindset . I attitribute my easy quit to learning the truths about nicotine. I hope you all will follow the link that Jeremiah Say was so kind as to post. When you arrive , click on his circle photo ...
