Approaching 6 weeks and happy with myself. Naturally nrt helps with cravings , however i find the habit hard to break. Now starting to cough more often as i presume the cleansing begins. Sometimes coughing is so intense it is actually painful in chest. What i have found to be helpful in case someone else going through the coughing stage is the fillowing...place a teaspoon full of salt into a glas...
hi all I'm 67 days smoke free and yes I still have cravings but I am finding loads of ways to bet them puzzles reading jigsaw puzzles you don't have to spend more than 2min of doing something as the cravings pass facebook offer all the games I need as I can choose when I stop playing the jigsaw game I can pause and go back to it when I need to I hope this helps others as it has me
I tell myself that I have never been a smoker, never had a smoke and never relied on it to get over stress. It's only peer pressure or drunkenness I take a puff or two, and they have only given me bad breath and chest pain.
I still have packs of smokes around the house, next to the bed and in the drinks holder in the car, but the lie works every time in the 8 days of cold turkey so far.
Whenever you feel a craving coming on just focus yourattention to something else or go somewhere that smoking isn't allowed and it will pass much faster
Today is my first day of being smoke free. I am going well, been to see my doctor and got and filled a script for patches. I have been tempted to smoke, but when I feel the urge to I use NRT and deal with it in my thoughts, and re assess my goals and reasons for quitting. I know I can do this!!!!
Whenever I am in a stressful situation - the kind a lot of people use for having a cigarette - I ask myself "What will be different about this stressful situation if I have a cigarette? The answer is always "nothing" will be different except I will feel horrible and guilty for smoking. It gets me through the moment. Smoking does not help a stressful situation - it just adds to it!
been easy nope, been doable though.
I do not have physical cravings only thoughts and that's where the addict lives in my head, so the more time that passes the weaker he gets as no is easier than yes.
I can not today think of one good reason to light up other than if I want to commit slow and painful suicide.
it hasn't been easy and I am happy for that as doing the hard yards really sti...
I need all the help in the world I'm ok when all my family are home as soon as no one is here I'm climbing the walls I become a different person one I describe myself like a junkie trying to get a fix I hate it feeling like this
I have made a You Tube video so people can see the pros and cons for them selves:-
Lock your tobacco up in an automatic pill dispenser to limit the number of cigarettes you have access to, and put the key in a time lock box. This w...
I'm nearing the end of day 6 smoke free! I bought myself one of the cool colouring in books they make for adults and some gel pens, it has been a great distraction for me. When ever I've had a craving or my kids are just driving me crazy I sit down and colour for 10 minutes until I've got my head together.
It may not be for everyone but it's done wonders for me 😊
Thanks for all your stories and comments about the pros and cons of Champix.
As you know the process of quitting smoking is different for everyone. There are many different methods that people use to quit, some of which include:
• going cold turkey
• using support services like iCanQuit and Quitline
• using NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) products such as patches, ...
Just my experience and now over two weeks free of smoking, green tea has helped me, in the following way: Relax, replace the habit of smoking or holding a cigarette and subdue in part the cravings of tobacco.
just my experience so far, Enjoy. :)
My psychologist said to let the thoughts of cravings exist. But to stop associating bad emotions to them. She said to make space for them. Let them exist. Without intent I might find they go away. She said I am skilled at quitting and that I should trust myself.
I have actually done just that with a craving I used to get when I had a medicinal drink at night. I got sick of the negativity I was p...
I've tried many times to quit with varying degrees of success. This time I played the long game and started meditating some months ago. Now it's the central plank of my strategy.
Cravings like any thoughts will pass
Cravings like any thoughts are not who we are
Sit back, observe your craving, take a deep breath and move on.
Be kind, generous and forgiving of yourself.
I borrowed this from an article - "Introducing any amount of nicotine back into the system immediately ramps up the addiction. Relapsing immediately places the quitter back at square one in the withdrawal process."
So today its day 69 smoke free and nicotine free.
However bad it feels I really think I should not want to go back to square one in the withdrawal process. I'm going to lose all ...
After more than 2 months smoke free I made it through one more day again. I'm alone right now. Its later evening and this is one of the most difficult times for me. I've written here quite often but I won't apologise for it because thats what we are here for. We are different from others by the fact we are addicts. We are here to share our quit experiences. I want to increase my weaponry so comin...
OK, I am on day 55 now. I'm not getting serious withdrawals anymore and believe I can resist one day at a time but I still crave for a cigarette now and again. I'm hoping these cravings leave me completely after 3 months. How are some of you others doing who have more days behind you? Let me/us know.
I did a search on google and found the text below this paragraph which encouraged me to keep o...
I need to stop for health and well-being
26 days in and i feel great. starting to get a lot of energy back throughout the day which is fantastic. I am still using Nicotine replacements but not relying heavily as i did at the start.
Still a long way to go .
When I feel like I want to smoke I remember I actually want to do this. How many times I´ve said that I want to quit? It´s hard, but only because it´s an addiction. So it´s not me who wants to smoke, it´s the addiction monster inside me. The me I know wants me to quit, even if now it´s hard. It gets better. Don´t fall back. If you slip, you´ll only feel guilty and will have to start all over agai...
I am on day 3 of champix and have cut down from around 15/20 cigies a day and today I have only smoked 3 cigies.... I am having a wine on the verandah which I would have a least 2/3 cigies before the Dinna rush but instead I check and read and maybe write on this chat site which is awsome and occupies me.....yea!!!! Herbs and flowers such as mint, basil, lavender, etc. can be dried and rolled in to cigarettes making a great chemical and nicotine free alternative to quiting aids. I smoke them after meals which is when I've struggled the most with cravings. Shops such as the happy herb company sell a number of herbs that can be smoked or drunk as tea which aim to promote respiratory health by soothing and clea...
When I think to far into the future I feel a lot of pressure, when I say 3 days feels a little better, but 36 hrs is a whole lot better. I know this is a mind over matter but I seriously know every hour I do not smoke is a hour towards not putting pressure onto myself, thinking all good thoughts to you all and know, I know, how tuff it is. Keep your strength up will start the gym it is free outdo...
I've gone 257 days with some slip-ups. I recently was using QuitX gum but transitioned to Juicy Fruit since Wednesday. Now I am nicotine-free and it's only $7 vs $23 for 100 pieces. I've also quit alcohol and caffeine and lost 25 kilos since June 2014!
For me it's only 3 days. I am using 21mg patches and they take away the craving...almost.
At the end of the day I have had to use the mouth spray as well.
Applied to the inside of your cheek (not on the tongue and definitely don't inhale!). It works!
Today I went for a 6km walk. I haven't done that for years.
It is amazing how quickly the energy comes back...
I recently quit smoking and just the smell inside a bar is so irresistable ive noticed some say on here they dont like the smell but it's one of those things that gets us every now and then. Keep trying don't believe sometimes in new years resoultions its all up to us on buying that next pack but i'm still smoke free which is great
I smoked my last Cigarette 3 years, 5 months, and two weeks ago. A trick I learned very early on in my quit process helps me beat the cravings. That trick is to remember that the cravings I used to get rid of by lighting-up will go away whether I light-up or not. Those cravings do not last one bit longer by waiting them out than they do by lighting-up. So, the only difference is that if I wait th...
