2 days with 0 smokes. Wearing a hair band on my wrist every time I think about a cigarette, I snap the band on my wrist and it diverts my thoughts. Also breathing in and exhaling deeply.

Its hard to gather my thoughts to literately help someone who needs advice. Everyone seems to be moving in a positive direction. some have moved into no-smoking territory, stay strong Gemma & Jess. Swap & Chapter have things sorted and keep your great work up please. We've come to realise that we all have to work along-side others who smoke in front of us sometimes and we dont worry or want what ...
I have tried so many times to quit but failed every time.
This time I’m going to put 200% into it
Smoking 40+ a day and now on the NRT
I’m on day one today so yes I have a long way to go
My biggest setback is all the other smokers around me
I live and work with people smoking around me
Any tips on how to overcome and beat this is greatly appreciated
This addiction is actually helping me stop other addictions too!
its important to keep an online journal so you can always look inside and see how long you have quit, this gives you strength on a challenging day, it gives you a pat on the back and this will make you the ultimate winner!! Thanks God for this great community!!

Tomorrow marks my 2 years of being a happy non-smoker. I think the realization that I was an addict of sorts albeit legal made an impact. Trying to better my health in other areas led me to the belief that I could quit smoking. After 4 decades of smoking I finally came to understand how I started and how to end it.
Hence lesson 101.111111 and yes i won, won, won, won. And will keep...
My helpful thought that I have come up with in case I feel tempted today is: I prefer to breath instead of choking on phlegm.
I am going to use this as my response to any temptation today.
I have just signed up today with the goal of reducing and then going cold turkey.
One concern that came up for me is what impact would this have on my body and I was hoping that you all may have some tips on what foods and/or supplements may help my body with the change of becoming a non-smoker?
Any tips are most welcome.
Hi Everyone, I was chatting with a friend the other day and she said something about smoking that I felt was a great point to share. We used to smoke because smoking was a very social thing to do.....however these days smoking is just plain lonely.
So if you don’t want to be lonely....you don’t want to isolate yourself from others....you don’t want to feel shame.....stop smoking
I'm stunned at how few resources there are in Australia to support people who want to quit smoking - this website is the most i could find, and its not really a forum but more for people to put a few 'stories' here and there.
We have the world's most expensive cigarettes! though all the government websites/resources are shallow and hollow.
Any recommendations for podcasts or YouTube channels for quit smoking journeys? For those sleepless nights :)
How's is everybody doing with the no smoking journey.
It's a hard one to beat but you can do it with the right mindset.

Think about your reasons for quitting as this leads to motivation then be determined. My doctor told me motivation is all that is needed to quit, i agree if the reason is big enough (throat cancer ect..) yes for sure that would motivate just about everyone. My reason was imagining i was on my death bed at a young age knowing it was my fault i have shortened my life and now its over. This was a st...

Hello everyone my cravings are quite high tonight I dont know why. I am keeping busy by coming onto this site and reading stories and comments and commenting on stories and now writing a post. It sure beats having a cigarette and means once these urges pass I will still be a non smoker. Have a magical evening everyone.
Happy Sunday everyone. I love it when I wake up in the morning and can easily take a few deep breaths and feel how much more air my lungs can take in. I love hitting the pillow at night knowing I have been blessed with another smoke free day. I love being able to participate in this community. Thank you to who ever came up with the idea of this platform and thank you to those who made it happen. ...

Is it normal to have a slip up with smoking?
I mean I had done 3 solid months of nothing cold turkey
And then 1 day it was like over whelming cravings that really took over and I give it? Does all ex smokers get this feeling.
I think I am doing Okie still

Hi all I am now 91 days smoke free. I really can't believe I just said that but it is a great feeling.
13 weeks today.
I do still if I'm honest crave a smoke but it's only a thought it passes as always. But gosh it does get me at the worst times.
Like today on my way home from shopping we drive for 1 hour and coming back into town i had that feeling of ah we are almost home the 1st thing I use...
When I have a craving - I take a really big beautiful breath of air in. Before I quit, I couldn't take a big breath of air in because my lungs hurt a bit and I'd cough; the whole breathing experience was a bit laced with anxiety to be honest. (I knew that if I continued smoking my COPD would get worse and I'd have to drag around an oxygen tank when I was old) So in a sense, taking a big breath in...
Hello everyone :)

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest experiences, however with the right support it is possible to leave this habit. I struggled for three years with my smoking habit but something marvelous happened three months ago. This all happened when i learnt about this seven day hack that enabled me to quit. Today is my 95th day off the smoke. https://bit.ly/355yhHd
I have just realised that this icanquit forum has DELETED all of my stories, that are very inspiring to all. i am disgusted, as these stories are my milestones and i have poured my heart onto this website. i has such stories like ´Burger Town' and ´Quitting Gives You Coochie´.
i am hurt and this is a clear attack. someone is after me.
please pray for me.
I have found meditation helps heaps....
(12) Today was easy!
Listen to what I am saying: “Going the entire day without smoking was easier than anything else I did today.” Now consider this . . . I am a 73 year-old man who smoked anywhere from a pack to three packs of cigarettes a day for 53 years of his life. I also happen to have celebrated 8 years of being nicotine free on July 12, 2020. If anyone had told me on July 11, 2012 that I...
If you used to smoke a cigarette straight after eating your food, wash the pots and tidy up straight after eating to take your mind off wanting to smoke

It came to the point that without a cigarette, I was sure that I hallucinated this whole no-more stuff. The pleasures of being without a cigarette at all for 380 days are done deal, and it feels like a new rmd.
I keep trying to put in 'whole'; being smokefree anymore makes me feel whole. Now...if I can place healthy activities in my daily routine...this will be a year to remember. Not many of...
For me just hanging out with smokers when they smoke (restaurants, pubs, work) helps me a lot. I have smoked for 43 years and going cold turkey for the 2nd time in my life. The first time was around 20 years ago and lasted 6 months. Fingers crossed this time around.
I quit vaping cold turkey 10 days ago, i am only 21 and smoked cigarettes for about 1 year and turned to vaping instead a couple of years ago which I preferred - can’t stand the smell/taste of cigarettes anymore.
Each day definitely gets easier than the last. I had quite bad anxiety to begin with, but now it’s skyrocketed! does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this ? At the moment I a...
"I'm gonna smoke just one cigarette to beat the cravings and no more". If you do this, you're gonna want another cigarette 10 minutes after the first one. Don't do it, it's ridiculous and pointless.
EDIT: I didn't do it, this was my coping mechanism
Adopting a belief in yourself and desiring to be a non-smoker can achieve wonders. Many start their journeys thinking that it will be just another failure , but we do learn at each turn and will eventually get there. When you achieve the right mindset, when you believe that this time it will work and commit to the desire, when you realize that smoking never did anything for you, you too will choo...
I turn to a vampire any time i want to, i become a vampire because of how people treat me, this world is a wicked world and not fair to anybody. At the snack of my finger things are made to happen, am now a powerful man and no one steps on me without an apology. I turn to human beings also at any time i want to, and am one of the most dreaded men in my country. I became a vampire through the help...
So I'm going for surgery a week today and I need to no if you think it's Okie to still be using patches a week before surgery I need them more than ever now to keep me strong and not give in to the dirty habit again.
Hi All, I am 756 days quit today....yay.
I have learnt many things through all of those days. We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. If we really want something we can and do make it happen...quitting is exactly the same. Wanting to quit and making it happen is within us all.
As in life...don’t focus on the negatives...focus on the positives. Being a non smoker is full of positives ...
