Also decided to have my morning coffee outside on bench seat instead of going back to bed and having a smoke - breaking habits
I'm nervous, but positive :)
I've been reading all the stories and am feeling inspired by everyone's experiences.
I am on day 17 of Champix but still haven't picked my quit date. This is the 3rd time I've used it, the first was successful and I didn't smoke for close to 3 years after smoking for nearly 30 years. I can't even tell you why I took it up again but I did and I have now been smoking for the last ...

I've just quit after 38 years of smoking and have long views the filthy, expensive habit as a friend and stress reliever. I now know it's my worst enemy. Day two and I am using Champix and drinking lots of green tea and just eating what I want...but not too much. Today it was salty chips. Any advice for long term success? Thanks Tracey
Today is the day that I say goodbye to the ciggies. I am doing this for my health I have had 2 lots of virus in a month so it’s time. I feel it’s a gentle warning sign. So here goes .

I think I can’t break my smoking habit because I rely on it to give me something to do - when I’m bored and a break away from what I’m doing.
I’m a student and when I’ve had enough of studying or I need a break, I use the smokes as a reason to get away from my studies. I’m just tired of dividing my time and day up of constantly walking in and outside for a smoke.
I don’t actually mind the wal...
I have just decided to quit social smoking - smoking when I drink. I cannot imagine ever having a good time again when I drink. I have tried to do this many times and failed. Does anyone have any tips? Hypnotherapy? Visualisation? Meditation? Stopping drinking for a while or changing to a new drink? Any advice would be welcomed.
Hello All, and thanks very much for the chance to be part of your group.
Today at 1pm I quit smoking and looking forward to sharing my story as I progress over the next few weeks.
the first few hours were always the worst for me in previous attempts, I would set a date, get all riled up and start the day with great intentions.
This never worked, by 11am I had those damn nagging doubts, ...
I thought I'd write this to help myself in my journey to quit smoking.
Just like everyone on this page, I am addicted to smoking cigarettes. I have been smoking on and off since a very young age for about 10 years now but throughout the past 2 years it has become a problem and has affected my mental and physical health.

I am a 54 year old woman who has smoked for 36 years.
I have attempted quitting around 10 times over the past 20 years, managing to last 18months the last time I tried ( around 7 years ago) I notice how bad my skin looks, how much phlegm I have every morning and how much my apartment smells. So,armed with patches and determined to successfully wipe this addiction from my system,I am here.
Hi, I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago (yay) but the trouble is I’m addicted to 4mg lozenges! Sometimes I’ve been putting another one in my mouth before finishing the last! I’m nervous about quitting them as I get anxiety and the horrible withdrawal feelings scare me. I know I probably use them as an emotional crutch as I did smoking too. I seem to miss them even 30 mins after not having one (unless ...

Personal story.. after 35 years smoking 20+ a day I decided very suddenly the time was right to stop smoking. I have joined a U.K. smoking clinic and have patches free also invested in a vapour. I cannot believe I am almost 14 dats without a cigarette🤗 it’s not been easy I have moments where I think I need a cigarette but it does pass. I know I am eating more but I can tackle that eventually. Wh...
I’ve just been reading all of your stories and support for and encouragement of one another; super motivating so thank you all. Quitting after so many decades feels possible.
I’m 50 and have been a “occasional/ social smoker” more or less since I was 17 with a few years/ months in between. I find it so hard to relate to most quitting support and materials as I smoke 5-10 a week max. I always feel so guilty about the damage I’m doing to my health but find it so hard to give up.
I came home from work the other day and seriously could NOT breathe. It scared the daylights out of me, so much that I took myself to hospital. All good though. Just a huge wake up call. Expecting second grandchild soon so yeah, it’s TIME to quit. Not easy and it’s driving me absolutely insane but I have got to do it. Life is short enough as it is. My Dad is almost 80 with Emphysema and can...

I have to do this. I'm 24, soon I'll be 25 and that means I've been smoking for 7 years. <br />Why can't I do this? I can't help it, not on my own. Maybe I can, but it doesn't feel like it.
I remember the day, the day I started. 27/12/2013. Two days before I began destroying myself was Christmas day, I'd separated from the first girl I had ever dated. No...
I’m 52 and started smoking from the age of 15. I’m an asthmatic with heart arrhythmia and not doing myself any favours to my health or the back pocket for that matter. Tried on numerous accounts without success. Smoking has taken its toll over the years and not sure if it’s failure that’s stopped me trying over again or the fact after a meal, coffee or stressed a cigarette is my best friend. Coll...
Well today is day 1. Sadly i have already slipped up this morning while drinking coffee as soon as i woke up. But i did put a patch on and im going to try and keep from smoking for the rest of the day. Im more worried about going to work in 2 days. As a waitress, there is a lot of stress and triggers for me at work and as much as i would love to get rid of those triggers, i can't. Im going to hav...
My experience with the Forum is awesome. The Forum helps you talk to others who understand and who can inspire and support you. It's what gets me through sunrise to sundown . Patches help you get rid of the nicotine but friends help you through the other times
Well, after 35yrs of smoking, it’s time to take the plunge to give up. I’m a bit worried about how my head will cope though. I already have anxiety and depression after giving up alcohol 5 yrs ago. I now just drink coffee and smoke all day. As I’m on the disability pension, I don’t work and am home all day, this boredom will be my challenge.
I’m struggling to pay bills and stay on top of things ...
Well today is my first day since last nite. Keeping my self occupied and calm and being aware of my triggers is the trick.
10 days ago I started on Champix to quit smoking. I have tried Champix in the past with no luck due to nausea but after failed attempts of cutting down, cold turkey and NRT over the past few months I’d had enough and took my first tablet 10 days ago.
This time on Champix I’ve made sure I have something to eat before having my morning and evening tablet and the nausea is almost no...
I gave up smoking with Patches and Gum 18 days ago.
I read Allen Carr’s easy way and for the past 5 days it was easy enough to go cold turkey.
Amazingly my withdrawals aren’t that bad.
Well worth a read for anyone having trouble with quitting.
I have started today I smoked my last cig this morning before work.
I quit smoking for 10 years in my 30's then after a night out I tried one and was hooked again badly. I am now trying again after 20 years. Just turned 66 yo
I plan to use Nicorette Inhaler and Vaping ( not nicotine based )
It's different every time. It's different for every person.
I started smoking at 12 . I stopped the first time in June 2016. Cold turkey. It's nothing like this time .
Picked back up a cig. In Oct. 2018. After a disaster. Feb. I was told I had Hypothyroid. We tried me on Levox. Which took less then 4 months for my body to become allergic to it. My thyroid was at an 11 I had crashed. Then this...
Day 1 today in my lifelong love/hate relationship with smoking. I already know that day 3 is my worst enemy, day 21 is my risky complacency day and any form of high stress just sends me straight back to the cigarette counter BUT this time i have new tactics. I have developed diffusion and distraction techniques, I've downloaded and registered on the icanquit app. I've entered the icanquit number...

I have just had enough of this habit consuming my life
Hi guys tomorrow is the day I’m stopping this habit. I have thrown out all cigarettes and everything. I’m a little bit nervous because my previous attempts have failed. But I really want to stop this habit.
I’m cold turkey and a patch during the day is what I’m going to do. Does anyone recommend anything else to help me get through the first few days?
During this Ramzan(15th may to 5th June)(holy month for Muslims, though not a Muslim) trying to be smoke-free completely for next 21 days. I have started my journey from today to live a smokeless life. I have planned to follow it religiously as Muslims follow their routine during this period. My main reason behind smoking is low confidence,self-doubt, hypothetical pressure and self created negativ...
I’m having major surgery soon and I want everything to go smooth so I’m going to try and give up smoking. This is day 1 (actually 7hrs 8minutes), I’m aware of certain triggers and my plan is to keep busy but I have a special needs child which can be challenging so I hope I can stay strong with that.
So, I've decided to quit finally, starting tomorrow. And I'm so scared. I've been smoking for 18 years and it shows. Weazing, can't catch my breath, severe cough... I'm scared I can't do it. Im scared it's going to drive me crazy. But I want to quit! So, I'm glad to be here, reading all of your stories. Im gaining encouragement and im finding comfort.
I just finished "Easyway to stop smoking" book by Allen Carr, a british author. Before reading the book, I tried so many times to quit smoking but i could not quit. The craving that made me mad. I used to be like "just one puff!! ", that one puff led to 10 to 20 per day. While i was searching for tips online, i came across this book. And i read it in just 2 days. The author has explained best way...
Hi there, I made the decision today to stop. So went online and found this website.
I am trying to get Champix from my doctor as I tried cold turkey and quite smoking aids before but still keep failing :-(.
Not sure why I am sharing my thoughts on here but I hope it will help putting it out there and motivate me to press on this time.
Today I started my Quit journey. I am going Cold Turkey as I am sceptical about stop smoking aids. I am 66 and have been smoking on and off since I was 17. My hubby is helping me, he gave up about 30 years ago. My one tip is "one foot in front of the other" every day I don't smoke is one step closer to quitting forever.
