I am on day 4 and finding it hard. I haven't been sleeping much averaging 3 hours a night. Is this normal? I would like to hear the positives from people that have quit. What areas in your life have improved? Does it improve your mental health? What I have noticed is my coughing has really improved, I don't have that chesty cough anymore. My coughing was really embarrassing as I work in a contact...
I have been a long term smoker for about 20 years. I smoked on average 10-15 a day, but if I also drank alcohol, that would easily be a packet plus my normal, and I drank a lot.
This is my at least 20th quit attempt. This time it is because I am pregnant; But after the baby is born if anything is like the past then I get stressed and take it back up again.
I am here, writing this...
i’m 21 years old, I live in SA, and i’ve smoked for 5 years now,
I need help! i’ve tried quitting, i’ve failed soo many times before, but this time I really want to do it. I need help dealing with pressure to smoke, all my friends smoke, it’s hard, i live in a small town, so meeting new people who dont smoke is near impossible, i don’t want to push my friends away, but i don’t want to ...
Hi, I had been smoking for ~17 years, & at times i was a very heavy smoker. I have been cutting back over the last month as i knew i would have to stop smoking soon (varies reasons!).
I suffer SEVERE anxiety and depression, and that has always been my biggest reason for *not* quitting. However, that aspect seriously couldn't get much worse (i am getting help for it).
I had my last cigare...
Hello and thank you for reading this post.
I am on day one. Freezing cold turkey right here.
Its the only way for me -- albeit violent and merciless. Black and White.
Here I go.
I am taking a lot of tools with me. You all (hi nice to meet you 30+ yrs of nicotine addiction).
I have exercise, a lot every day including cardio, yoga and stretch therapy. I have mediation, hydration, vi...
I am 39 years old... I have been smoking since my teens. I've "attempted" to quit a few times but never made it past a few days. My heart wasn't in it. I wasn't quitting because I wanted to. But now I am! And I WILL succeed! Cigarettes have controlled me for too long. Now I control myself! I'm tired of waking up and reaching for them before I've even opened my eyes. I'm tired of smelling so horri...
Hi everyone, it’s day 1 for me tomorrow and I’m nervous! Iv had a few failed attempt but really want to succeed. Any tips?
I've been smoking for 17 years and I am so over it. I have not enjoyed smoking for quite a long time now; probably 6 months at least. I'm just tired of feeling like crap all the time.
I have never really given quitting a real try; I always manage to find some sort of excuse not to do it (which is ridiculous!)
I read Allen Carr's book about 3 months ago and for some reason it did not resonate wi...
Read other people’s experiences- you aren’t alone.
Hi everyone, am new here and frankly nervous that I can’t do this. I’ve been an on off smoker for a long time and this whole covid thing ramped things back up for me. I have young children and know I need to stop for good for them. Help! I feel scared that I can’t
Hey all. I’ve been reading all your stories and searching for positive outcomes from champix as I am experiencing some major mood swings. I have read what I think I already subconsciously knew. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and being a non smoker and choosing to not have that lifestyle anymore was the best decision I’ve ever made and will try my best to stay positive. I struggle when ...
Today i decided to quit, this is going to be difficult.
Personal story.. after 35 years smoking 20+ a day I decided very suddenly the time was right to stop smoking. I have joined a U.K. smoking clinic and have patches free also invested in a vapour. I cannot believe I am almost 14 dats without a cigarette🤗 it’s not been easy I have moments where I think I need a cigarette but it does pass. I know I am eating more but I can tackle that eventually. Wh...
So I have been 'wanting' to quit for years. I don't think I have gone more than a day or maybe a week without a cigarette. BUT this is the first time I have sat down and read this entire website.
My willpower sucks. I have read you can train your willpower so I am going to start with that.
Things that I worry about when thinking about quitting.
*Willpower or lack of..
*My mental health is...

I’ve just been reading all of your stories and support for and encouragement of one another; super motivating so thank you all. Quitting after so many decades feels possible.
I’m 50 and have been a “occasional/ social smoker” more or less since I was 17 with a few years/ months in between. I find it so hard to relate to most quitting support and materials as I smoke 5-10 a week max. I always feel so guilty about the damage I’m doing to my health but find it so hard to give up.
Hi all I’m finally done with smoking (I will hate that comment by Friday I know!). I’m breathless and tired and sick of the cost and smell. I’m going to need encouragement if you can help x
I’m 30 & am attempting to quit smoking for the billionth time. I literally attempt every time I finish a packet, and will smoke more to get rid of them quickly, only to end up buying another packet and then having to chain smoke that packet just to try get rid of them & try quit again. It will last Sometimes a day, a week, sometimes a few months. But I always end up back on them. ...
Hey everyone, I'm new to this community and just wanna sgare my story. I've tried quitting several times in the past and tge longest I've went was 2 months. Every time I started again was because of booze tge craving was just to big and eventually I will give in. I've been smoking/vaping for about 5 years. Hi all, I've started giving up smoking and failed for about 20yrs. With the coronaviris going around and currently fighting broncual asthma I made the decision two days ago to give it a shot to quit today. I do however get anxiety without cigarettes and it jumps on my nerves that's why I take up smoking over and over again. I have Nicorette patches and loginzens.
Any tips'n tricks to help will ...
I extinguished my last poison stick on the 15/3/2020. I started nrt patches on the 16/3 so I am now 1 week free. The first few days were a challenge. However each day is getting better. So far I am doing ok. I know it’s early, however I am enjoying learning more about myself and eating better. I look at it as an awakening experience rather than fear. One day at a time for me.
I am new here. I really like to quit, not just because of my money but most importantly, for my health.
I am not sure if I can do it, but I am trying.
I tried so many time before, so let's see if I am able to do it this time.
I want to smell good again and regain my energy.
God help me.
I was doing so well friends.
Over a week! I was glad, and I was feeling those benefits! I woke early, no tiredness or dry mouth. I felt good!
Wednesday came, a friend asked me to the pub. I took the chance because I haven't seen any friends or spoken to anyone in months. I smoked, I must've had 10 smokes. Probably 10 beers too. I was ruined the next day, I still am. But I didn't keep smoking....
Giving up coz I can. When overseas smoke flavoured cigars. Australia wants us to give up but more ppl will scrounge for butts or hit up cars for change. All anti smoking aids should be tax free (or gst).
Today is day 25 on Champix and Day 24 of last cigarette. Problems I face is stomach cramps and nausea but it all goes away after an hour. I am generally an anxious person so started controlling my mind wandering off to overthinking since I am on Champix. My main trigger is feeling bored. Whenever I am alone at home or I have nothing to do i feel like going for one. So I started watching all the l...
Day 2 & going strong, I believe from cutting down to zero has helped me stay stronger from not going back.
With your help, I know I can achieve the best result. I have smoked for many years, I think about 45yrs. THANKYOU
Keeping in good spirit
My first day, first day in years that I have not had a cigarette. I feel like I want one, but I don't. I am going to beat this.
You were right, everyone. Thank you for commenting on my story, you were right. I hadn't made up my mind. I woke up to many nice and encouraging words from you all, and I think that was it.
Yknow, not just being nagged to quit, but being believed in that I could do i...
I have to do this. I'm 24, soon I'll be 25 and that means I've been smoking for 7 years. <br />Why can't I do this? I can't help it, not on my own. Maybe I can, but it doesn't feel like it.
I remember the day, the day I started. 27/12/2013. Two days before I began destroying myself was Christmas day, I'd separated from the first girl I had ever dated. No...
Hi all, just a small note to stay I'm on track. Early days but feeling very positive day 1 of week 2, wow the first week didn't drag as much as I thought it would. I have set myself targets and goals for the year, nothing unrealistic just focusing on where I've been before non smoking as appossed to smoking and more visits at the gym as appossed to less visits and which categories make me feel my...
