Hi everyone. I’m on here again because I just can’t seem to quit 😢 I’m suffering from depression at the moment as well as stressed. I want to quit but it doesn’t seem like a good time to do so. I need a lot of encouragement but I’m not getting that at home as I don’t want to bother others as they all have enough to deal with. I’m at my wits end with smoking & trying to loose weight. I’m on here ...
It's now the 23rd day without a cigarrete and I'm going through really bad withdrawal symtomps. I used to smoke roll ups, about 15 / 20 a day and starting the day with coffee and to cigs before getting ready for work. I am 35 and have been smoking for 20 years. I've been having some chest pains for maybe 6 months and decided that it was now a good time to stop.
The first week was fine, may...
So I have been 'wanting' to quit for years. I don't think I have gone more than a day or maybe a week without a cigarette. BUT this is the first time I have sat down and read this entire website.
My willpower sucks. I have read you can train your willpower so I am going to start with that.
Things that I worry about when thinking about quitting.
*Willpower or lack of..
*My mental health is...
Today marks day 7 on Champix.
I had set my quit date for next Sunday but TODAY choose itself to be the day I quit. Not entirely sure how I feel about not getting the chance to say goodbye but perhaps its better this way.
So far champix has been okay! A bit of nausea in the morning if I don't take it with food. I have been sleeping really deeply and my dreams are a little more vivid but nothin...
Hello everyone I decided to quit 27 days ago after a news article about covid 19 and smoking literally scared me to the max.
I am 27 and smoked for around 9 years (stopped twice when I was pregnant) and then started again when the children were a few months old. I smoked around 5-10 a day.
I'm on day 27 and had it all, dizziness for a couple of days to start with, insomnia, sore throat, si...
I lost the 20kg I needed to, and maintained that weight loss for 3 months, prior to quitting. Concurrent with quitting, I have continued my weight maintenance program. Doing things in this order paved the way for me to quit without stressing about weight gain.
I've been using the money I save from quitting to justify buying: nicotine lozenges; significantly better quality and more expensive cut...
hey guys! today is the beginning of a new future for me and for my family! short and simple the facts is I want to see my 3 young boys grow up and be around to run and play with them! here's to a new beginning and a better life :) ps if I quit my wife probably will too, win win!
Hi, I quit smoking 11 years ago after 13 years of smoking. My husband purchased a packet last year for fun at a party, we then quickly became hooked. Now 11 months smoking and I plan on quitting again in 2 days. I have had 4 quit attempts since starting back, some for 4/5 days. Feeling like a silly idiot for starting again and needing to go through the process again. My mother was also diagnosed ...
I’ve just been reading all of your stories and support for and encouragement of one another; super motivating so thank you all. Quitting after so many decades feels possible.
I’m 50 and have been a “occasional/ social smoker” more or less since I was 17 with a few years/ months in between. I find it so hard to relate to most quitting support and materials as I smoke 5-10 a week max. I always feel so guilty about the damage I’m doing to my health but find it so hard to give up.
It’s something I know I need to to do but so scared to do it.
I’m 31 and only started fully smoking a little over a year ago.. really stupid decision.. what started off as an occasional smoke break at work has now become a full on addiction.
I always think about quitting but weirdly I find ways to convince myself it isn’t THAT bad.. and to be honest I’m now just super duper afraid of the side...
I have been smoke free for exactly 2 weeks now. 4-8-2020 was my quit day. One good thing that came out of having to stay at home. I started smoking when I was 26, crazy I know. A friend worked for a tobacco company, she smoked, and would bring cartons over to my house. It first started recreational and then a full blown habit. I never considered myself a heavy smoker. I smoked about 9-10 c...
Hello from the UK, just signed up today as I plan to try and start my quit journey tomorrow, Monday 20th April 2020. I am 28 years old and starting to smoke is the biggest regret of my life so far, I started about 8 years ago. I don't want to be a smoker when I am 30 and I feel that it has already started to impact on my health. I have acid reflux and get chest pains and a raw feeling in my lungs...
I have tried so many years to be a non smoker , that's the only thing I want to give up in my life , I suffer with bad anxiety, my nerves goes complete off the planet , I'm great to give support to others but cant give it to myself! I don't know where to start , how to change my routine , I don't even know what to do to keep myself during the day because all I have known if I wasn't doing anythin...
Hi all I’m finally done with smoking (I will hate that comment by Friday I know!). I’m breathless and tired and sick of the cost and smell. I’m going to need encouragement if you can help x
Hi there. After numerous attempts to quit over the years, I am now on day 3. Yes! I am using Champix. Has anyone else been using it and do you have any tips you can share. Thanks.I
Monday is quit day. Cold turkey. No more excuses. I've had enough. Something HAS to change. For me. For my step children. For the baby I want to start trying for. I am happy. I am loved. I am free. Smoking does NOT serve me any purpose. Smoking is KILLING ME. My health is declining. I've only lived 27 years and have put my lungs and body through so much the past 14 of them. My body has carried m...
Thanks : )
Hi All, I am starting my quit journey on Friday this week. I’ve tried to quit twice before but failed. I am currently working from home so have a lot more time on my hands over here in London. I’m 28 years old, ironically pretty active around exercise. I smoke 13 roll ups a day but used to smoke around 10 camel cigarettes a day, before switching over. My dad is in his early 60s and smoked all his...
I came home from work the other day and seriously could NOT breathe. It scared the daylights out of me, so much that I took myself to hospital. All good though. Just a huge wake up call. Expecting second grandchild soon so yeah, it’s TIME to quit. Not easy and it’s driving me absolutely insane but I have got to do it. Life is short enough as it is. My Dad is almost 80 with Emphysema and can...
I’m 30 & am attempting to quit smoking for the billionth time. I literally attempt every time I finish a packet, and will smoke more to get rid of them quickly, only to end up buying another packet and then having to chain smoke that packet just to try get rid of them & try quit again. It will last Sometimes a day, a week, sometimes a few months. But I always end up back on them. ...
I am 25 now and have smoked on and off (mainly on) for my adult life. It is time to quit and I am finally at the point in my life where I have a good, professional job, a partner who I live with and some experience behind me.
I am currently on day 5. I have been through many quits in my previous couple of years. So it's difficult going forward with a positive attitude. But, this time I am going...
Hey everyone, I'm new to this community and just wanna sgare my story. I've tried quitting several times in the past and tge longest I've went was 2 months. Every time I started again was because of booze tge craving was just to big and eventually I will give in. I've been smoking/vaping for about 5 years. I'm on day 4 now and quitting with the nicotine patch. This time I've also decided to quit...
Hi all, I've started giving up smoking and failed for about 20yrs. With the coronaviris going around and currently fighting broncual asthma I made the decision two days ago to give it a shot to quit today. I do however get anxiety without cigarettes and it jumps on my nerves that's why I take up smoking over and over again. I have Nicorette patches and loginzens.

I’m a smoker since almost 20 years and trying to quit it since 20 years. Before 7 months I have quit the habit for 3 months but couldn’t remain firm on NOPE. And started smoking since four months. But after listening to corona virus exposure to smokers, I have decided to quit. It’s almost 10 days. And lockdown is helping me. Wish me luck this time
day 5 , researched online about itchy skin. I am glad to be quitting.
I extinguished my last poison stick on the 15/3/2020. I started nrt patches on the 16/3 so I am now 1 week free. The first few days were a challenge. However each day is getting better. So far I am doing ok. I know it’s early, however I am enjoying learning more about myself and eating better. I look at it as an awakening experience rather than fear. One day at a time for me.
I have just decided to start my journey to quitting today.. I think i am going to cut down first and then eventually give them away altogether. I am thinking about getting some gum from the store to see if that will help me. I have a high paced job and am constantly moving and would love to be a non smoker for health reasons. I treat myself on work breaks to a cigarette, it has become a routine s...
I am new here. I really like to quit, not just because of my money but most importantly, for my health.
I am not sure if I can do it, but I am trying.
I tried so many time before, so let's see if I am able to do it this time.
I want to smell good again and regain my energy.
God help me.
I was doing so well friends.
Over a week! I was glad, and I was feeling those benefits! I woke early, no tiredness or dry mouth. I felt good!
Wednesday came, a friend asked me to the pub. I took the chance because I haven't seen any friends or spoken to anyone in months. I smoked, I must've had 10 smokes. Probably 10 beers too. I was ruined the next day, I still am. But I didn't keep smoking....
Hello everyone🥰I hope you are all having a good day and that you are all healthy when it comes to situation in world..
Today marks exactly one month of my smoke free journey so I just wanted to celebrate it with you all and thank you for your support so far💕I want you all to have nice and calm(and healthy) weekend❤
Giving up coz I can. When overseas smoke flavoured cigars. Australia wants us to give up but more ppl will scrounge for butts or hit up cars for change. All anti smoking aids should be tax free (or gst).
Today is day 25 on Champix and Day 24 of last cigarette. Problems I face is stomach cramps and nausea but it all goes away after an hour. I am generally an anxious person so started controlling my mind wandering off to overthinking since I am on Champix. My main trigger is feeling bored. Whenever I am alone at home or I have nothing to do i feel like going for one. So I started watching all the l...
I have purchased Champix to help me quit I have used it before this is the 3rd time for me to give and I swear it will be the last, my breathing is very laboured and my husband hates me smoking wish me luck
Hi Quitters. I’m a noob quitter 20 times over. Signed up yesterday. I’ve set a quit date of 23 March. I plan to cut down over the next 3 weeks from 25+ per day. Is that too quick? I wonder if there’s any useful tips for cutting back?
Day 1 for me today. I have tried many many times to quit in the past and 3 months has been the longest. I already feel anxious but I am also determined to kick the habit. Good luck everyone.
I look at my kids and think why do I do this? Im 34 and i feel so unfit. When you cant run cause your outta breathe it needs to change. So here I am. Week 3 of champix and picked my quit day 7 days ago. I have had 2 slips but im feeling great.
Hello dear ex smokers!
My name is Cath- and Im just 11 smoke free. I went cold turkey..my two biggest fears for relapsing in early days were :1.smoking when going out and 2. Going on a coffee with a friend that smokes.
On day 9 I went out..had two glasses of wine-I didnt smoke!Felt so proud!
Today, on day 11-I went on a coffee with a coworker that smokes..coworkers were usually a trigger for ...
I need help, badly.
I was a smoker until I fell pregnant in October of 2017. I managed to stay smoke-free until a few months after my daughter was born. In the 18 months since then I’ve tried to quite a handful of times, once I managed to go for 10 whole weeks. But I always manage to convince myself to go back to it. I feel weak and guilty and ashamed.
After reading Alan Carr’s book I gave up t...
Hello again, finally took the plunge two weeks ago and have no doubt my last smoke was Thursday night the 6th of February.
I,m not going to allow myself to become complacent with my success, as I have let myself get hooked from just one Puff before and will not fall into that trap ever again.
My advice to those who havent Quit yet is to make a plan, set a date for your last one and dont loo...
Hi you good things,
I'm on day 13 without smoking. I'm feeling kind of antsy. Well, a bit aggressive. Luckily I live alone, so after pacing and general swearing and looking for a way to curb this, I thought I'd check in with people who are on the same journey. OK. Cheese has calmed me.
Day 56 (week 8)nicotine free.
such an achievement for me.
i once found going an hour with out a cigarette difficult.
so very pleased with the progress i have made.
thank you all for the support you have so freely given.
Entering day 6, got to thinking about how i was feeling the day before i stopped smoking to how i feeling now after 5 days of freedom. i remember the lethargy, no motivation except to light up then the coughing and phlegm while i was "enjoying the first 1 of the day" What a joke, my old pal Nic Tine allowed me to lie to myself again and again. No prizes guessing who is not my old pal anymore. In ...
Day 35 Today of no smoking. Day 1 nicotine free. Today I ditched the lozenges, I told myself time to take the plunge and yep no guts, no glory. I've been at this stage before and know what to expect, a bit of discomfort for a few days and then onwards and upwards. I have felt a bit stressed today if I'm really honest, but not rattled. I know that this is a phase that will pass and I'm proud to sa...
I went 20 days without a smoke and slipped up on the weekend
Tomorrow I start my quit plan
I know I can beat this crappy addiction and everyone's stories are encouraging this time I'll have it beat
Name is set as trying
As i will not stop trying
4th attempt, longest was for 35 days by reading others stories, when i started to stop reading 2-3 days afterwards i would bust, so stay strong & committed and believe in yourself. Its all about you
ODAAT - Remember that "One Day at a time". I'm on Day 21; after 25 years of smoking. The difference on this quit this time, no nicotine replacement therapy. it was so much easier after Day 3. I think NRT just teases you and eventually becomes a habit. Just do it cold turkey.
Hard, yes; work it YES!
Well i happy to say i have make the 6 weeks mark.
Besides a few weeks ago when i was extremely intoxicated and recall placing a ciggerett in my mouth and lighting it,then finishing it.(dont recall the taste or anything else about experience ,only the complete shame when i woke up next day)
I have done ok .
