A daily struggle after 25 yeard

I gave up about 25 years ago and was convinced I was a non smoker and felt sorry (and let’s face it a bit superior) to people still hooked. Then about 2 years ago I bought a pack and since then have been typically going a couple of weeks without a smoke then caving and buying and smoking 2 or 3 packs in a row and smoking 25 a day until I feel so sick I give up again for another 2 weeks. Usually the trigger is having a few wines, but not always, sometimes just being ina social situation even without a drink. I’ve tied Zyban, doesn’t seem to work but maybe it helps me give up again. I’m trying this as it might help to share. I’ve been to specialists for lung/throat checks, all OK, want to keep it that way. I’m 75.

I used sleep and still do to beat cravings and anxiety- head down for ten to 30 mins the world is a different place 😉

If you did it once, you can do it again. I also once tried Zyban but stopped taking it because I became forgetful and disorentied. Perhaps that was just an excuse at the time......?
I would suggest taking Champix. You are not going to have the difficulty of most of breaking the actual habit or ritual of you daily living with cigarette in hand. Champix will stop the nicotine from smoking attaching to sensors and prevent the urge to smoke eventually.
However you decide to quit, you have made a great start by joining this community. I don't know what if anything could induce me to smoke again, but I am sure that I could quit again. Find the right mindset and do it!
