Hello everyone.

Today I am officially 3 weeks nicotine free. Still at the beginning of my journey, but I feel it is worth celebrating.

One of the reasons I gave up smoking was because I used to suffer from excruciating tension headaches, which are now nearly gone.

One of my big concerns about stopping was gaining weight. Although I followed the advice given in a comment on my previous post not to weigh myself, it still worries me. I began running and exercising more frequently, which has shown to be really helpful. The aim here, I suppose, is to replace one addiction with another (healthy one of-course)

I still don't picture myself never smoking again in my life, but I'm working hard to change my perspective. Has anyone experienced this at the start of their journey?

Can't wait to read your comments :)

Your doing great. Just what is it that may draw you back into smoking? What do you think you might gain by starting again in the future. Why can't you see your self as a permanent non-smoker? We were not born with a cigarette in our mouth.

Keep reading and learning. Smoking gives you absolutely nothing, but the nicotine addiction will keep you smoking and costing you a fortune in the long run. Don't you have bigger and better dreams?

We can quit smoking and do it happily and permanently when we see the realities.

Congratulations on 3 weeks smoke free Quitki, Your last paragraph is such a shame, I am telling you this, because I too had the same problems you have at the beginning, and this was also my downfall that is before I found this forum.

You need to see yourself in a totally different light, the forever concept no matter how difficult it is to comprehend is the only way to stop this Nicotine Monster in its tracks.

Just one will take you back there, (is it worth that risk?) NO. You need to look at this aspect first and just eat healthy as much as you can. The mind needs to accept your commitment and the mind needs to be happy in this commitment. NOPE (not one puff ever) needs to be said every day written verbal or silently, this is the only work that you need to do for now.

In the meantime gather information by reading here and/or by reading Alan Carr, or a video by NASIA DAVOS...... Be happy in your day enjoy the rewards even if they are just pats on the back. When this is firmly fixed in your mind, (only then) you can bring the food intake into focus.

Nicotine is a drug that wants to overturn your good work always and forever. Food is not a drug, it is just a habit that can be altered anytime.

Congrats you are doing so well. I just keep it in the day. One day at a time otherwise it would be to much to think of it as the rest of my life. All I have to do is not pick up a cigarette today. 😊
