25 days with not one puff

Posted in Staying quit

Hi all, well, I am starting to get quietly thrilled to be not being addicted to smoking. This is about my 10th attempt over 35 years nd this time is different, I have zero desire to smoke, my previous attempts involved pretty much having the odd cigarette here and there and pretending I was not slipping up. This time, I have changed up my daily routine to include taking more time to prepare myself yummy meals, practising yoga as many as 5 times a week and getting little jobs done around my place that I would not have otherwise done. On the odd occasion I have a twinge of a hint of the demon beckoning, I drink a glass of water and get busy! I have this week moved onto the 14mg nicotine replacement patches and noticed I was cranky for the first day or two, short tempered and a bit unpleasant if I'm honest but it has passed on day three.I suppose it's the reduction in amount of the drug. Another thing I am experiencing is quite severe fatigue every day .I have a demanding physical job which I am usually able to motor through without feeling tired, since quitting smoking I am dragging myself around like a half dead person.Have been reading that this is a side effect and will pass once my body and mind have rewired themselves to operate without the false energy smoking used to provide.

The main thing? My sense of smell has come back and I find the stink of cigarette smoke super awful! Also, my skin feels soft to the touch and looks clearer.

If I can do this after being a dedicated smoker for over 3 decades, y'all can do this!!

You are doing great Flowers66. Keep it up!

You say you have tried before but thought you could cheat so I hope you know now that many have done so only to end up back at Day 1. Not One Puff Ever is probably to best advice I can give to You. Don't tempt fate....you are rockin' it!

Can you tell us what it is this time around that is different? Had you joined a forum before, or read Allan Carr or research or used an aid? How did you find the belief in yourself this time? Others want to know!

Sounds very similar to my quite Flowers66. You will get it right this time, the main problem remains in staying quit and the NOPE (not one puff ever) said to myself and written down every day, has been the key for me. Of course keeping close and posting also helps us both. Congratulations.
