First two weeks

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 7 Nov 2019

The five days leading up to the date I had set for quitting smoking were harder than actually quitting. The fear of giving up was actually what caused the most pain. After I got over the fear of giving it up, the rest was easy. The worst symptom of giving up has been insomnia, initially I could get no sleep, but as the nicotine has left my system I gradually was able to get some sleep to the point that I now get a full nights sleep. I now feel, I can give it up for good. To everyone out there who is quitting or thinking about quitting, you can do it, you know you can, self belief is very important as well as being persistent and having the will to see it through. I relied heavily on this site at the beginning, reading the stories really helped me to stay positive. After two weeks without a smoke I now feel confident and strong enough to not ever go back to smoking. Thankyou and God bless.

Negativity never brings about good. Thinking positive can open a whole new world, give confidence and return control. I am glad you are sleeping well now and excited for you and your new positive attitude. You seem to have grasped the concept of the mindset very well. Don't forget to keep reading stories here regularly to keep up all your good work. I truly believe we make a difference.
