My struggles

I’ve been using champix now for 19 days and it’s really helped. This is the 3rd time I’ve used it but this time I’ve persevered through the yuck feeling and horrid dreams I get and stuck to taking my tablets correctly. I’ve forgotten two night time ones but hey no ones perfect. This website has really helped me too, by reading your stories they’ve really helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel people smoking 20-30-40 years plus give it up I think I can too!! I’ve been a smoker since 15 and I’m 29 now long time. The tablets take away the craving it’s just the habit and the social side of smoking you naturally want to spark up when sitting around a group of mates who are smoking. I did smoke the first few weeks and can honestly say I didn’t finish a full one after week one of taking champix they taste horrid. Just wanted to share my story it’s only been a few days 4 so far that I’ve been completely smoke free but I’ll keep reading your stories. I really want to give them the flick!! Thank you for posting your stories they really really help!!! 😁😁😁

Isn't it great knowing that you are now nicotine free. Only negligible trace amounts are in your system now and the nicotine receptors shut down around 21 days of abstinence. Isn't it also nice to know the facts this time around and to have joined a support group to know you are not alone. We have proven it can be done and I think that is an important factor in your mind in believing that you too can achieve this change in your life. That , i think was the factor that opened my eyes (and my Mind) to the actual possibility of making the break. I did it after over 45 years/pack a day.
Accepting the journey and embracing it makes the psychological cravings leave. You will not crave what you do not want and i didn't after 72 hours of starting this journey. My husband also achieved that, it is in the MIND. He read Allan Carr, while I read it after i had quit, which is how I know how I achieved it. The mind is a powerful thing, put it to work for you.
So welcome and congratulations Eckak on choosing health, wealth and freedom. Many still don't believe they have that choice, but they do.
I hope to hear more about how well you are progressing and comment often as well. Members rely on new input and keep coming back to the site even after years to support and remember how they never want to do day 1 again. NOPE! No matter how tempting, we are free and never going back!

Hi Eckak and welcome, its good to hear you have been reading the stories of others, it does help you to realize you are definitely not alone and we are all on our individual journeys of staying smoke free.
I am on Champix, but am now tapering off this medication completely as I decide from day to day, in fact I never took the full dose, only the one in the morning, but I had already had a few attempts so I knew what to expect.
I found it difficult mostly, in associating with different activities in a social setting, but I did overcome most of these previously, the crux came for me to realize that although I was smoking on and off this meant that Nicotine had a more substantial hold on me than I thought.
Eventually I came to the conclusion it had to be NONE long term, which I have to keep in the centre of my thoughts when I am tempted for any reason.
Everyone has different motivations, and as long as you keep this clear in your mind, you will succeed long term without letting Nicotine take control over your body and eventually your mind.
Keep reading and ask questions as you go.
