Shared tips on Repairing the Damage

Hi Everyone.
We all know what a great decision it was to quit smoking and all the advantages it offers for a longer , healthier life. Many of us have smoked decades and done immense damage in some cases. We are lucky that if we listened to our bodies in time, we can repair a lot of the damage. Our lungs clear out within a few day of stopping and we breath better. Our lungs can even undo most of the damage after 10 years. In researching better foods and natural remedies i found a few things i would like to share, and am hoping that others will take part. We are not doctors, but we can be open minded and research ideas for ourselves, and what might benefit our situations.
I found an article on magnesium and how it helps in over 700 functions in our bodies. Our bodies will regulate itself and take care of itself with the right tools. Magnesium not only takes out toxins, but also Flouride, which they put in our water in Canada, and the toothpaste (read the poison warning). Magnesium also binds the mercury and lead and helps to eliminate them as waste. We are bombarded with so many toxins these days, that a lot of people are coming up short on magnesium in the regular diet, which is why it is one supplement i am willing to take.
Vitamin D is also hard to come by in winter months, and is needed to absorb the calcium. As it is hard to get in food other than mushrooms , it is something else i take as a pill supplement or in a fortified food such as milk with Vit D.
I am not rich , and although organic is the way to go, but very expensive i look for affordable fruits and veggies, spices and herbs to get the most benefit from. Turmeric and the curcumin within it helps to shrink tumours.
Other great spices are ginger, cinnamon and garlic.
What wonder foods can others recommend?

Depression can be treated by Turmeric or Saffron. Saffron cost over $500 an ounce and is the most expensive spice on earth! So i guess i will turn to my turmeric again! In studies of curcumin supplements (curcumin is found in turmeric) Curcumin supplements were as effective as prozak in treating depression. I am sure i would rather take that remedy than one with a list of side effects than inhibit my body to act out it roles.

Hi Happiness, I read your article with great interest as I am currently taking a holistic natural nutrition program. When you say "what wonders foods can others recommend", what ailments/symptoms are you looking to resolve? i.e., depression, anxiety, physical conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular diesese, withdrawal from escaping smoking? Once I know what you are focusing on, I can research and tell you what my books recommend.

Thanks NotThisTime. I've just been trying to ensure that i am giving my body all it needs to repair what it can. It seems the body self regulates, and that includes high blood pressure, which is not dangerous in itself, but rather an indicator of inflammation or problem in the body. It is the body's natural defence system and doctors give you antidepressants which raise blood pressure , then give you something for high blood pressure, which toxifies the liver and casuses yet another problem. We need to research a specific ailment and find the cause and a natural remedy for the body to correct it.
I guess my greatest concern is the big "C". We here, are all at higher risk . I take the magnesium now to make sure my body has what it needs to correct itself. I try to eat foods higher in anti-oxidants and ant-inflammatories. Corella takes out metal toxins, but magnesium will do the same as well as rid of the flouride. Cancer is caused by free radicals or toxins, and although you could do extreme enama's to flush the bowels etc... I guess i am looking for everyday good eating tips which benefit the body most. Kale(but not too much raw) chia seed chocolate pudding for a great healthy dessert, apple with cinnamon, ginger/turmeric tea. Cruciferous veggetables, sweet potato,
What does your good book have on COPD? I am sure a few of us on this site are afflicted. Thanks NotThisTime
