Still no smoking and i can't believe it. Breathing better and I know i smell better. Always thought perfume would mask my smoking but found out out that it made it more offensive to others! Saving money. In Canada a pack costs about $18.00. So far savings of $480.00. Now addicted to manicures as a result. My most difficult time is late in the day before dinner time and after dinner time. This is when I would smoke on a regular basis. I dread these hours but have not given in. I just keep saying " your smoking days are over - so think of something else " Proud that I went on a vacation to smoke filled Nashville party town and didn't smoke. Funny thing - I keep a pack in the garage - but don't touch it. It is sort of a stand off between me and THEM !! I am going to win ! My husband is very proud of me and so is my sister who quit 15 years ago. Thanks for the reminder iCanQuit team - hope this helps others.

Congrats misspar, I carried a pack of cigarettes in my handbag for 12 months, you are right it is a clash of you against the cigarette, it also teaches you great will power because that is the only thing that stops you from having a cigarette is you and each day is such a big win.
Keep going you are doing so well, always be vigilant, my brother started again after 2 years,

That's outstanding, you have saved $480.00 in 50 days! Giving yourself small rewards such as manicures is extremely important during the beginning stages of your quit. My favourite reward was a weekly diner out at a restaurant I wouldn't normally go to. I would order anything and everything from the menu without taking price into consideration. Every time I had a craving throughout the following week, I would think how delicious that meal was and how I was looking forward to the weekend to get another savoury dinner. Saving for bigger rewards is important as well, but should come later in your quit (I did the small rewards until approximately 3 months, then started saving for a bigger reward).
I am not sure if you have read or heard about the book "Easy way to quit smoking" by Alan Carr. The book doesn't use scare tactics, it challenges and proves that every reason you think you need to smoke and proves these are false beliefs. It teaches you that smokers are brainwashed into believing they receive benefits from smoking over years of smoking. Once you no longer subscribe to the false beliefs of the benefits smoking gives you, 'will power' is no longer required. There is also a live seminar they offer in major cities in Canada around once every 6 to 8 weeks. I had tried every method (that I knew of) to quit prior to reading the book and I believe the book was the major reason I was successful this time around. I was quit for around 1 to 2 weeks prior to reading the book. It suggests to continue smoking until you are finished but only if you are a current smoker. In your case, you would not start smoking again, but I believe you would still benefit from the concepts.
Congratulations again, and keep up the good fight! I look forward to seeing your future posts and milestones.

Fighting the good fight - I wonder what took me so long. So nice not to be a slave any longer 😀
