So far, so good

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 6 Feb 2018

I am 30days smoke free. I haven’t announced it on social media because I feel that 30 days is nothing in the greater scheme of things. When I get to 3 months, then I will announce. This time seemed so much easier than previous times trying to quit. What is really wierd is that I have had NO cravings. I think about smoking and I do still miss it sometimes but I am not fighting cravings like before. This time I went cold turkey but using an app “smokefree”- I don’t know if this is what is helping me, but something is working. My big worry is the end of March when we go on holiday. This is when I failed last year. Sun, sea, white wine and then its so hard to resist a ciggy, especially when my partner hasn’t quit yet. Any advice?

Hi Red - thanks for you message. You’re absolutely right of course, it IS all in the mind. I also knew that this aspect would be harder to crack than the physical addiction. I will try to keep the mantra that its something I don’t WANT rather than sonething I have to resist. Watch this space!

schedule 10 Apr 2018

Oh dear, survived the holiday (which was unexpected) and proudly posted 90 days smoke free. Then the start of the new school term brought anxiety stress and led me to steal roll ups from my husband in secret. Twice. I hope that this phase will pass after a day or so and I can regain the strength to keep on being smoke free. Never stop stopping!
