Keeping active helps

Hi everyone, Day 52 I thought I had better pop back in to touch base with you all, I remember when I first started coming here I spent so much time reading the posts and anxiously waiting for comments that made me feel good about myself and that I wasn't doing it on my own, Today I have gotten on with my life I'm still checking my phone and email and catching up with people who comment on my storeys, I just spent 3 hours following up on my followers and reading their testimonies now its time to tell mine. I cant tell you how much now being a non-smoker has changed my life but I will try my day starts at 8am and instead of going for my smokes I eat breakfast instead still have a Coffee and contemplate what I have to do Today I no longer work for a living at 53 with no commitments I have to find ways to get thru the day otherwise I'm sure I would get bored with it all and thoughts of smoking would enter my head, so with the money I've saved I bought some cheap laptops and after clearing out my shed set up a workshop and began refurbishing and repairing them now as soon as I sell one I'm looking for another, This is quite a good little money spinner and more importantly keeps my mind busy and my hands. I've got 18 days to go with my patches and can't wait to stop wearing them after 90 days I will be on my own without and I can't wait to start the last leg of my journey I've got a good plan lined up, I never really thought about what I would do once I stopped smoking and saving my life, now I have to get on with my life I live in the bush and there's not really a lot of things to do unless you live on a farm or work for yourself nearly all my mates Drink and Smoke so I've sought out the ones who don't and find comfort in their company as well as my Friends here that are always ready to give me advice if I need it, so there you have it the light at the end of the Tunnel. Keeping Active and Busy is the key for me so if your reading this and considering a program that will change your life I highly recommend that you have a good look at the whole picture and put a good plan together, get ready for the ride of your life. Good Luck, Ron...

Hi Ron. Do keep going and just a reminder. You are never on your own when giving up. I think you will aways benefit from the accolades and support you will receive on this site. Let's face it. Not one of your non smoking friends would have a clue what hoops you have had to jump through. Nothing they say is as empowering nor shows as much empathy as those comments from fellow quitters. Like I have said, it is not a one way street and if you make yourself known on this site, you may be amazed how many people share your thoughts. Think of those you may help, especially in the early days. That is why we are all here. I am up to day 890. Still need encouragement and reminders from fellow quitters that I am not alone despite being on this journey for so long. Still enjoy the return of those who supported me oh so long ago.

Thanks, Lia& Red I won't stop coming back for some feedback on how I'm traveling. Iknow the patches are more of a nuisance than an aid at this point I don't like wearing them but my cessation Nurse insists I follow her advice and shes the only ex-smoker I know personly I cant ignore her shes got 9.5 years up but I'm always open to good advice. I'm still a newbie at this and I hate that this has held me back with my life. I am a sober alcoholic with over 20 years up my sleeve I'm not going to let it get the better of me I just want to put this behind me and get on with my life again.
