Day 11

Day 11 and thoughts of smoking are beginning to sneak back into my mind. They're not all that powerful but becoming more frequent. I asked myself why all of a sudden, when the physical withdrawal is over, does it start to matter.... I think its because the elation and excitement of quitting is wearing down. So I've decided that from tomorrow I'm going to start a rigorous and intense exercise regime that will give me another hurdle to overcome. I think that if I begin to put on weight, it will make me feel terrible about myself and I will probably start smoking again. Quitting was originally only a part of my overall plan to become healthy, but if I can quit smoking then I should be able to quit sugar and bread and start working out. Everyone laughs at me when I say this but I have been listening to Tony Robbins to help with motivation and he is amazing! It really helps. You can listen to his stuff for free on Spotify (download the app). Might not work for everyone but it might be the push in the right direction you need. Hope you're all doing well and keeping on track.

Good on you, keep positive and motivated. How did the exercise routine go? Do you feel somewhat better for it?

Hi Tara, how are you getting on? I did the same as you - exchanged the smokes for a FitBit and some running shoes. I am now 12 weeks smoke-free and have put on a few pounds but that is due to muscle. I can run 6k now and before I stopped I could barely get to the end of our road without getting puffed out. If I can do it anyone can. There is a very good NHS website called "Couch to 5k", it's certainly worth a go. Let us know how you're getting on, I would love to hear more about your quitting strategy.
