Just do it.

I quit smoking April 24th. I am proud of myself. Now I'm using step 2 lozenges. I found myself needing them like I did cigarettes. I don't want to be addicted to nicotine I'm weaning myself from the lozenges with using 2 a day. My husband said just quit he don't understand because he has never been a smoker. I've researched on line how to quit the lozenges and I read testimonials of people being on them for years. I refuse to trade on habit for another, any other suggestions please help!

You've said it in your title, just do it. Remember that willpower is like a muscle and the more you train it the stronger it grows. Determination and grit are needed when quitting, there will come times where you're tempted to reach for a smoke/lozenge and you just need to get through the craving no matter what. Drink water, chew on coffee stirrers, go for a walk, read a book, listen to a song, count backwards from 10 and breathe deep. Anything to keep you occupied. You will find that it will soon become second nature and you won't need to actively think about not smoking.

For context I'm going through a similar thing to you at the moment as I replaced my smoking with food and sweets, especially soft drink. I'm using the same techniques to avoid the food cravings for bad food.

guess its like stopping any addiction at some point we have to jump off the train and yeah it hurts a bit :(

seems there is no soft landing for most of us, so just have to work up the courage to jump :)

you can do it !!

You are already doing it, the lozenges will go the same way as the smokes - you can do it. I am a bit the same although getting quite sick of peppermints lol

I'm trying to have less lozenges each day however I'm not really getting there and I'm trying not to smoke 8 months now but oh the lozenges help so much. I thought maybe I ought to try those kind of lollies not sweet slightly acrid "fishermens friend" anyway I might try to slowly substitute these
