Well what a journey I have been traveling since I last posted. Just over 3 years ago I quit. I had been seeing a naturapth who told me that I should give up smoking as it was killing me, of course I laughed as they all tell you that and I had been told this a few times. I was always sick, aching and so many more symptoms. I had tried several a times to give up but always using excuses to start up again, oh those horrible excuses. Well September of this year I was diagnosed with Lyme like disease, not recognized hear in Australia. I am now under a Chinese physician . When I went to him I was told that my heart was really bad as we're all of my organs but heart and lungs were the worst. He asked me if I smoked and I told that I had quit a couple of years ago. He said I would probably be dead if I hadn't. That was when I realized how lucky I was to be alive. It is another long road for me to regain my full health back and being in my 60's make it all the more harder. So if anyone reads this I beg you all to keep on your journey of quitting as life can throw some curb balls. You will be so much better when you do, you will enjoy the taste of food, some foods you may not like anymore. I wish you all a good life with the nicotine, love to everyone. Cheers, Suse

Hi Suse. Look forward to the day when I can report 3 years of being smoke free. I am up to day 183. It is good to know that there are success stories out there and that people who have beaten the addiction are still "free" and take the time to report back to us who are in various stages of our marathon journey... Gives the rest of us hope and assurance it can be done. and reminds us that it is not a sprint.

Well done Suse. I first came to this site 1413 days (3.8yrs) ago and then unsure if I could do it. Now I look back and wonder why it took me so many years to give the cigs away.

To anyone just starting out - hang in there as it is so rewarding down the track, both financially and health wise.

I have been a closet smoker. Today my husband found a packet of cigarettes. We discussed the issue and I have decided this is not the way to live. Today I have decided to quit
