day 140

Haven't been here for a while; started busy then away then christmas, but amazingly haven't fallen over. Weird habit that 140 days after quitting you still get some bad urges. I think I'm past the real problems that may make me cave, but bloody wish the cigarette thought would leave me alone!!! Especially as I know I don't really want one when the thought does wave to me!
For anyone earlier in their journey it is possible - I smoked for 40 years, and panicked every time I even thought of giving up, let alone tried to!! Wish I'd done it 20 years sooner, or never started!!
I think some of the side effects from quitting are coming now, eg my coughing and shortness of breath is worse than when I did smoke, and worse than when I first gave up. I'm just hoping cos I smoked for so long my system is just slower kicking/clearing toxins and stuff. Apparently my skin looks better, but we think it is just less drawn/more padded out from a little extra weight!
One thing my muscles cramping has defintely improved. I do still get muscle pains though, abdominal/intercostal muscle pains. Anyone else had similar from smoking?
I hope everyone that supported me early in my journey are still going okay, tobacco free and health improving and happiness blossoming
I'm not sure that all the promised improvements from stopping have happened (yet!) but I am sure that it was still all very worth stopping, even if it wasn't easy it was definitely worth stopping, so good thoughts to everyone needing help during their quit - you can do it......

Oh and also THANKYOU for your suggestion to look at the cognitive quitting website. I have just had a quick look ( will get straight back onto it) and as you have I think I will find it really helpful. That's what makes this forum so great, ideas, support and encouragement of others!!

Thank you for sharing, and the encouragement. 140 days is a great achievement, keep going..

Hey Larch, lovely to see your post and how far you've come! I wonder whether those urges, and sudden thoughts of having a cigarette, ever totally go away. They still sneak up on me sometimes, and I'm over the 200 day mark now, but it's more a passing thought than an actual craving. I presume your cough and SOB are because your cilia haven't fully recovered yet, to gracefully wave the yucky stuff out of your lungs, but have you had your Doctor check it out? All the best, and thanks for your support on my post.
