Hey everyone just need some advice

Hi guys! hope everyone's quit journey is going awesome! I am now 3 days smoke free and haven't felt this good in ages :) just wondering I am going cold turkey and so far its going well, I was just wondering if anyone else who is or has gone cold turkey if there is any natural supplements or non fatty foods that can help when you get stressed and cravings start going bezerk? I'm not an over weight person but I'm a little worried about turning to food to control my cravings..

Congrats.... I am also on day 3. I am taking champix, so an extra big congrats doing it cold turkey.
I have had a hard time the last few days. Cravings, crankiness etc. I have to say I smoked about 15-20 per day and i am really, really missing it.
Usually when I get stressed at work etc I go and have a smoke. Today I went out of the office and took a magazine with me and read a trashing gossip story and sucked on a mint mentos. The burning desire did go away but it's never far from my mind.
I did go and have a massage yesterday and that helped. I hear that accupuncture can be really helpful if you want something natural.
How have yOu been kicking the cravings so far? Any tips welcome.
Jess

Hmmm, I'm cold turkey and i find that i am craving cranberry sauce, and roast potatoes!
NUTS have been good for me. There is a woolworths brand of mixed nut - smokey BBQ flavour. Also smoked almonds. Anything smokey is a good substitute for me. In the car, beef jerkey has been good. Has the smokey flavour and is chewy so it lasts a good while. Twiggy sticks, salami. On the healthier side, peaches, avocados. I just love peaches so having a peach instead of a smoke is a no brainer. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Elyse, for the first couple of weeks I had a water bottle with me ALL the time and would spend time each morning (usually when I first woke up and was trying to keep busy instead of having a cig) chopping up carrots and celery and apples. Anything crunchy, and you can pretty much have as much of this as you want without worrying about fat. Nuts or popcorn helped me out too.
Yay for you for day 3, keep on keeping on

Hey Elyse, this afternoon I bought a bag of Nobbies Pork Crackling! FABULOUS!
Also a bag of almonds.
Have you found "your thing" yet?

I went cold turkey and i found chewy gum. but slowly weening myself of them. I always am finding something to eat. Keep going. Its the best feeling of knowing you can beat this horrible addiction.

Thanks guys, I Found that fruit keeps my cravings for a cigerette at bay, I love nuts so I'll give them a try too :) I found that I havent really had any strong cravings in the first week for a cigerette but yesterday on day 8 I had a stronger craving for one but it went away within like 10 seconds, I told myself I've gone this far and don't want to dissapoint all you guys who have given me great encouragement, my family, partner and myself :)thats definately what keeps me going, and joining this site has helped me more than anything! so thanks so much everyone! I have a couple of partys to go to in the next couple of weeks so I'll let you all know how the cravings go when i have a couple of drinks, I'm sort of hesitating to go because I really don't want to put myself in that situation just yet, any tips on how to keep my mind off smoking when having a drink? hope everyone is going great!

Elyse- you are doing great. I am 72 days now smoke free and feel awesome but want to give back to this site that really helped me in the beginning. I found that sugar free lollies were fantastic, also fruit, meringue, yoghurt. I guess I had more of a sweet tooth. Great to visit te dentist and get your teeth cleaned. I also joined the gym and go every second day it costs less than a packet of cigs for a week. Its easy to see where I've spent some of the money I used to smoke, clothes and shoes!! keep trying!!
