Bloody hell!

42 days cig free. Not a puff, a drag, a roller or a tailor made.

I now treat myself a little something everyday. Maybe a chocie bar, or even a nice glass of red. (Not going over the top, last thing I need is to have to quit something else!)

Seriously though, it almost feels wrong to feel this good in health and in myself. (Almost I say, I like to admit to myself that I am bloody awesome!) - <Insert evil cheeky smile here>

I hope everyone else here, (JoC, Tiger, Bluesuzi, Rock Rush, Winnie Walker, Violet, Eric etc etc....), are keeping the course and are feeling as great and as strong as I am.

I actually dragged onmy first stolen cig at the age of 5 (sad). I believe because pretty much every family member and older person smoked around me. (Dad quit soon after, I believe he saw the problem straight away). At the age of 14 I started having a regular cig. By 16 I was well and truely addicted, a pack a day on weekends, a pack every other day during the week.

I look back now and really wonder what the hell was I thinking. At school there wasn't even peer pressure, I was the only one of my mates at the time who smoked. What was bad here was teachers who knew I smoked and would smoke with me, even allowing me into in the staff rooms to smoke with them.

Anyway, it's all behind me now. I believe I am very lucky that I exercised and have eaten healthy all my life so that now I can make the most of quitting.

I am fit, I am strong, my lung function is good.

Big tip here.... Get off to the Doc and get a check up. Was good to hear my Doc say how happy he was to see me with the kilos off and the cigs gone. Doesn't hurt to spend some money on yourself either. Even get the teeth a good polish and shine. Nicotine does stain, the difference not smoking is very obvious.

These treats make you feel healthier and from the Doc, give you some internal justification for your craving angst.

What you're doing isn't just good, it could save your life! Not just that, for me as a firey, I might be around that bit longer to help save others.

The long term benefits are not just ours. It could keep on giving for genereations if you consider the benefits of those quitting and then having children who are born free of Nicotine.

Feel great everyone. Quitting is Awesome and so are you for doing so.

Cheers.

:)

You are doing amazingly and I have been really inspired when i read your stories, i even tagged some of them very early on.

I hope I can keep going and just give it away forever, i have a bit of a fear that i will fall at the finish line. But you have been greathalf way to the 3 month mark which is the next milestone when they say that you have made to decision and you don't have to reconsider it any more. Yay for you!!!!

Well done Firegod. 6 weeks is stunning! Like Tiger and Bluesuzi here, I have been reading your stories and been inspired to keep going. So thank you and congratulations. My mum who gave up over 20 years ago said to me, I still remember the 6 week mark and almost fell, but after that it was all good. So get to 7 weeks mate and you are home and hosed.

Well done :) Keep going strong! I just recently went to the dentist and I agree, it's nice to know my teeth won't be getting stained by nicotine anymore.. Cheers to being stink-free and healthy :)
