I have been smoke free for 3 weeks now.

35 years on the smokes.

I loved smoking sure I've given up befoe but only short term.

This time I mean it. When I turned 47 I had a continuous cough coughing all the time which was quite embarrassing. By 53 I was getting breathless worried about walking up stairs or climbing a small hill as I'd lose my breathe. Then I caught a cold which really affected my breathing. My goal was new years to be smoke free. By the 6th of January I became smoke free. 3 weeks now and Im so proud of myself as I'm starting to feel much better already and cough free.

I look forward to running up the stairs.

I'll never smoke again.

Good job Annm63, it's amazing how quickly the cough lessens once we quit.

Well done Annm63 and welcome to our community. So identify with the constant coughing and all night sometimes. Don't cough at all now and have much more energy. Good luck

Hi Ann! So great that you join us on the path to quit smoking and you are already some weeks into the cold turkey! Well done...

Oh yes, being embarrassed about the cough who never seems to go away... and trying to find excuses why you are coughing, always denying the smoking...Oh yes, its retrospectively still amazing how much this ciggis influenced me...

Hi Ann;. Congrats on your three weeks as a non smoker!! I'm celebrating 2 weeks today. I do find I still have a slight cough but nothing like it was before. But walking up and down stairs seems to be getting easier. I do still reach for my cigs as soon as I get in my car. But instead now I chew gum, have a puff of electronic cig anything to distract myself until my craving passes. How do you deal with cravings? Thanks. A
