Getting ready.... Again!

I'm sure I've quit only 100 times. The only times I was really successful was when I was pregnant. Staying of the filthy things for over a year all 3 times. So my 40th birthday is 6 months away, and my mantra is "I want to be smoking hot at 40, not smoking at 40". The premature ageing is definitely starting and I am a very vain person! I've even tried quitting 3 times in the last two weeks. I'm so frustrated when I'm smoking and when I'm not. Almost becoming depressing.

So two more days and I'm trying again! Really looking for support and hoping I've come to the right place :)

I am a closet smoker, ready to come out and be free! So much a closet smoker that I've worked at my current job for 2 and a 1/2 years and no one knows I'm a smoker! It's so embarrassing and humiliating to admit such a disgusting thing :(

looking forward to chatting with some of you, hopefully :)

Nina, why wait two days before you stop. An excuse ?? Get started now !!! and start to exercise. You have no idea how by exercising how it will assist you in giving up. Hard to believe but I am almost addicted to running now after smoking for 29 years. When it all comes down to it you/we make the choice to put a cigarette in our mouths and smoke. You can overcome this urge. Stick with it and good luck. I'd be interested on hearing your progress.

Write yourself a list of all the things you hate about smoking, so when you get a craving you can read that and know it was you who wrote it. Not only do you not want to be a smoker at 40, you want to say "I haven't smoked for 6 months and wont again".

Good luck, you can do it!

Thanks everyone! I have convinced my best friend to quit with me, which wasn't hard given I don't know a single smoker who doesn't want to quit! We have decided to write to each other on email every night and create journals for each other. I think this will be motivating for both of us.

I am going to get back into my running, might have to dust my running tops and shoes :) Feeling very positive and confident.

Thanks again for the encouraging comments and ideas. Well done all of you too!
