Posted in Reasons to quit
schedule 18 Dec 2013

My story is like so many others. I am a mother of 5 boys and I have been smoking for 18yrs. Over the past 10years I have suffered many health issues not relating to cigarettes at all but I look at how bad my health is nowand wonder what it's going to be like when the cigarettes finally win! So I need to quit, I have to succeed so my next lot of operations can be done safely and so my boys can look forward to mummy having a fighting chance of living long enough to see them grow and start a family of their own

Hi this will be life changing for you. You will succeed I have no doubt in that. You have every reason to knock the smokes on the head. I would suggest a talk with your doctor on how you are going to proceed re: what method you are going to use. I wish you well and hope to congratulate you on your first week smoke free.

schedule 20 Dec 2013

Thanks everyone I hope to be free from them forever

schedule 21 Dec 2013

I smoked for 25 years then in August this year I got really sick after a massive night for my 42 birthday, even when I was feeling like death I was still puffing away, each cigarette I smoked made me feel more ashamed of myself as I thought not of my health for me but for my 8 y/o son & 11 y/o daughter. I am 116 days smoke (and alcohol) free and my children are so proud of me and I'm feeling better every day. I believe you can do it! Merry Christmas :)

schedule 21 Dec 2013

Thanx gregoryd well done on your massive achievement, any tips you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and your family

schedule 24 Dec 2013

Hi beckyboo :) I tried everything possible during my smoking days to be rid of those stinky little coffin nails, and I have stopped and started many many times. I suggest you try every option available as different approaches work for different people. Via the process of elimination you will find the means that works for you. Myself personally I have had success using NRT,hypnosis &cold turkey. The most important element to stopping is the desire to do so, it sounds so obvious but if your desire to stop is not stronger than your desire to continue smoking then nothing can assist you in stopping. I say start with a combination of patches (available on the PBS via a GP) and mini lozenges and or gum, be creative and find your way! Get exited and be passionate about stopping because believe me, your new life as a non smoker is closer than you think :) You can achieve whatever you believe B)

schedule 24 Dec 2013

Thanx this is my second attempt, I get really sad and depressed around my second week of non smoking has this happened to anyone else and how long does it last? Ive just started an intricate piece of art work that will keep my hands and mind busy alone with patches and mixed martial arts training! Wish me luck
