Second time round.

I gave up smoking the first time December 2010. My Mum passed away September 2008 and in 2010 I went back to New Zealand for her unveiling. She had a lot of illnesses from smoking which may have also been triggers in her passing. I didn't want to go out of this world like how my Mum did because I loved her and I didn't want my children to go through the same pain that I did at the time.
The first time on Champix did wonders, I only made it through the second pack and stopped the Champix and smoking altogether. This year however, my partner suffered a stroke in September this year. I could have coped with the stroke but, he decided to tell me that while I was away in New Zealand for 6 mths looking after my Dad, he had been sleeping with someone else. The smoking started again. I am back on Champix this time round and it is so much harder now, there are many more positives to smoking than what there are negatives. I hate smoking and can't stand the smell and taste however, it's helping me to deal with the infidelity of my partner of 20yrs and I am struggling with giving up. Has someone got some useful tips or hints, really need to stop!!
Thanks,
curvycee.

If you want to quit then quit. The smokes do not help anything it is your brain that says they do because you have smoked for all them reasons for so long, so now you need to teach your brain that you do not need a smoke for them reasons you have done it before so you are stronger now all the best

Just do it. We all hate smoking if we are honest and we CAN quit. It's not an easy journey but well worth it. Good luck

Hi Curvycee,
The best tip I can give you is link in here, reading others stories can be helpful. Champix are good and they are a great help. The most important thing to remember is to take it one day at a time. Remember you are doing this to be healthier. I am 6 months smoke free, and feel so much better. Skin has improved so much, teeth, nails no more stains. I have bags of energy and breathing in so much better. I run most days of the week now without a struggle. It transfers to eating better, quality foods. It is the best choice I have made for myself, psychologically I am much better now. I am more sociable and not as restricted and controlled as I was by smoking. The biggest learning for me was there is no such thing as one more smoke...... it leads to another and so on. It has to be a final goodbye to something that is negative in your life. Good luck
