I have attempted to quit many times, all to no avail. This time after a heart attack ( 5 weeks ago) doctors advised give them up otherwise the consequences will be dire. Sure easier said than done. Anyway I'm on day 8 and fighting the cravings, depression and all the other feelings associated with quitting that made me fail in the past. I enjoy smoking even though I am fully aware of the ill effects. Does any one else feel this way?

PS love reading all the experiences on this site and would really appreciate any feedback.

Hi Blue 57. Think about it. What do you enjoy about smoking. Is it the disgusting smell, the cost, the back of your throat burning, hacking up grey/black gollies of a morning??? Any of the above? What you think you enjoy about smoking is the hit of that very addictive drug-nicotine. I too have tried numerous time to quit, and have been smoking for 30 years. I was over it and sought whatever help i could get to beat it this time. I bought Allan Carr's quit smoking book and took Champix. It has been NO WALK IN THE PARK, let me assure you. But I will not stick one of those filthy things in my mouth again, no matter how many times the nicotine monster pounds on my chest, demanding his hit. I cannot beleive I am today 170 days free. It feels like years, because of the fight. But I will WIN. You can do it. Stay strong and remember there is nothing you enjoy about smoking.Good Luck.
