Why

I have come across a few comments on here towards individuals that had a slip up and started to smoke again. Some comments asked why would you when u know it’s bad for you, others were pointing out how bad it is to smoke and the effects of it. Now I think that's all well and good, and I am sure those individuals who slipped up know all that already, and what they need and perhaps want to hear and read is something positive and encouraging to get them back on track.
Those who find/found it easier to quit, doing/done it cold turkey etc. and are/have been able to say no without any problems what so ever, need to be supportive to others who are not as mentally strong to kick the habit just like that and are struggling day in day out.
I believe messages should be supportive and encouraging, give ideas and suggestions to those who are having a hard time, and to support them and through good and bad times. Negative messages in my opinion will only result in individuals who have failed to give up or feel even worse about them self’s.
To those who have failed and had a smoke over the weekend, hey it happens to the best of us but don’t worry too much about it or feel too bad. With every failed attempt you are actually getting one step closer towards kicking the habit. How? Well every time you fail it’s due to a set of circumstances, mate was smoking around you, went and had drinks with mates or just had a drink at home etc they key is that you will be able to identify those circumstances or situations that resulted in you lighting up.
So when you start to quit again you will know what it was that caused you to fail last time around and you will be able to look out for those circumstances and situations and avoid them.
So good luck to all, and don’t feel too bad if you fail once, twice or many times, every failed attempt will make you stronger and result in you achieving your ultimate goal, to kick the habit.

To all those just starting , hang in there.
It does get easier. Many a day earlier on I reached for a packet that was no longer at hand but now at 6 months smoke free the cravings are just a passing thought, some days they do not even exist.
Be strong and feel proud at your achievement.
