TW: infertility, pregnancy loss

I've been smoking since I was 16 years old (now 31). I've tried everything to quit over the years including patches, spray, gum, Allen Cars Easy Way, hypnotherapy, champix, zyban and accupuncture. I transitioned to vaping in 2022 and smoke the occasional cigarette. I am eager to quit so I can conceive a baby with my partner. We have been TTC since March 2023 with 1 early pregnancy loss in September which shattered me.

I am now trying to quit again with patches and on day 1.

Sending everyone positive vibes for their quitting journey.

I smoked for 35 years in March it'll be 12 months smoke free for me you have a great reason to quit and so many more that you can't see now because of the addiction. Believe in yourself you can do it, be realistic it's going to suck big. Time for a while U have conditioned your brain to it change things you used to do that made you smoke)but I promise you it'll get easier. Don't listen to the monkey on your shoulder saying just one won't hurt. I used Champix work out what's worked for you in the past. Write down why your quitting and remind yourself when you get cravings. You can do it.

Hi Rhi. I’m on day 4. Thanks for posting your story, it helped me yesterday. I find myself occasionally forgetting I’m not smoking,

I’m using patches atm. and not enjoying the whole process at all but I hope by chatting with people on this site it’ll help ease the withdrawal process. I hope you’re having an ok day today

Thank you for your kind words SmokingSailor and JoC. I am on day 2 with using the patches and going really well today with very minimal withdrawal symptoms.

I really appreciate your encouragement and wishing you both the best with your quitting journeys. I keep reminding myself that I am not "quitting" anything, I am only gaining back my health and vitality.

That’s fantastic and a great way of looking at it. I might use that as a daily affirmation 😊
