the last few weeks

Good morning the last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle a strong desire to smoke appearing a least 2-3 times a day i manage to get through it by reminding myself it will only just taste terrible and give me head spins and make me feel sick so why cave in now! i am hoping this will subside soon.

Hi there
It is a journey. Can I suggest to you that perhaps it is not really a desire to smoke that you’re experiencing but a wish to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms more ? It is really challenging to quit but every day it gets a little bit better until you start to forget about cigarettes. There is a light at the end of the tunnel when you reach that light you know you’re free Great job for your few weeks too

Good morning Cuba thank you for replying i i’m hoping this challenging period will have subsided soon as i’m almost at 5 months now

5 months is a really great achievement! What do you hope to gain from quitting ? And what is it that you are having trouble letting go of in your journey? I found one of the best rewards was having the opportunity to work on myself

I understand your desire to smoke is sometimes strong even after the time and effort you have put in , but mindset is really important it is vital. Really ask yourself why you want to do this. Become strong and resilient

When you think that this "Choice to Change " has become difficult, remember just how difficult you breathing was. Look how far you have come and be happy that you will come out of this a winner if you keep the positive thoughts and the belief in yourself. If you or anyone can make it through those terrible times, you can make it through these uncomfortable ones.
You have moved me to look for a past members story and send you the link if I can find it. It truly proves just how strong the mindset can be in this journey. For those back in the day, you may remember the story of Pisces.

Good afternoon Happiness and Cuba
thankyou for replying snd yes i need to work on my positive mind some more but i am getting through it ok . i recently around the time this all started was i suddenly lost the taste for coffee and started drinking tea? i will also look back and try to find pisces stories

I just realized that you switched from coffee to tea. Perhaps it is more of a caffeine withdrawl? Just as I recall both nicotine and caffeine induce the release of dopamine, a feel good chemical in the brain. Dopamine is also induced with hugs, chocolate, lavender and learning, which I did a lot of while on this site and doing some research.

Good morning Happiness was very unusual for me to suddenly not like coffee at all and then like tea when all i had was coffee 3-4 tomes a day for the last 30 years or so . this week i started forcing myself to having coffee in the morning again it still tastes funny but then tea all day desire to smoke seems to have subsided now i don’t notice it now

I’m going to try the lung cleanse recipe this week end just one question after cooking/simmering do you let it cool and drink cold or better to drink hot

I had my ounce cold and chased it with honey. I am sure mixed will taste much better!
My spiced tea that I drink now is enjoyed hot.
In between these times I added spices to chicken base and enjoyed it that way, but far too much salt, which my have contributed to my stroke.
All good stuff in the first two so I hope you enjoy them.

I feel we all are different but if you were a heavy smoker. I see it a bit like having a baby. Nine months. It does get better eventually. It's those 9 mo that will be tough, but I think the first 4 are the most trying. At a year you'll be like a nonsmoker. Each day a craving gets bad. Take a bath, or eat an apple.frozen grapes, gum.Sleep. Those cravings last at most 3 min.It will pass. You've gone far...pat yourself on the back! You mention no nrt.

A craving is 3 min at most. The rest is your mind. I look at it like this. If you were a heavy or longtime smoker it's like having a baby. It will take 9 mo. At a year your cravings will be gone completely gone have gained full control. Everytime you crave it means your body's healing itself. Great ways to combat it. Breath through it, take a hot bath, frozen grapes, gum. It will pass.

Good morning ThisWillPass thankyou for replying, my recent desire to smoke seems to have gone I have also been drinking the cleanse Happiness recommended which i believe helped .

the quitting journey seems to have these challenges along the way, i managed to get through and past the challenge and remsining positive

Hi 2befree Yes I can see that quitting smoking is going to be a pain in my butt for the rest of my life too. There will always be times that I will want a smoke. I just have to make sure that I don’t. That I don’t get one from someone, That I dont buy a packet. The hypnotherapist put suggestion ‘smoking is not for me’ in my subconscious so all I need to do is say that to myself and the desire for a smoke goes quickly. This is still working well. No stress at all.

Hi again 2befree So you understand I was huge sceptic and didn’t believe I could be hypnotised . I went there not wanting to quit but having to quit for medical reasons. And it still worked. I had a single hypnotherapy session. Just one. Everyone says you have to want to quit, but I didn’t. I explained this to hypnotherapist. It has been pretty easy not to smoke. I’m not stressed, no withdrawals, no nothing really and I smoked for approx 50 years.

Good morning RaggBear i have read several experiences on here where hypnotherapy has worked and worked well , and like you i tried so many methods over the years , especially the last couple of years as i just could not afford it anymore, and to stop a developing cough until i found a method that seems to have worked so far although i did suffer several side affects.
when i first came on here and started reading last year i was surprised at how many other different methods i didn’t know about .
