Struggles

After being smoke free for 13months, I started smoking again, its been 3 months of struggles. can't figure out why I can't get the desire back to quit and stay quit.

Hi blackjack,
Can I suggest that you identify your own personal triggers that cause you to smoke. These are usually certain situations and the thoughts and feelings that go with it. Say you’ve had a stressful day and that can be a trigger. Write down what causes you to smoke and then prepare yourself for these times which might be often. You could have a healthy snack on hand or go for a walk? Anything you can think of to curb your cravings. Taking some deep breaths and saying Let Go on the outbreath also seems to help. Knowledge is power.

13 months is a huge achevement:)
That is longer than I have done so far. My longest was 11 months. I have been quite for 6 months and now my partner is going away for 2 weeks. I wish he wasn't going away as by him being here helps me stay on tract

Hi Blackjack,
No one who tries is a failure!
Life throws us some amazing curve balls and it’s hard to stay afloat!
13 months is amazing, I’ve got 362 days so far.
I have had a few slip ups but still keep going.
I have this mindset that even if I have slip ups I’m still a non smoker and breaking an awful daily habit.
For you to achieve 13mths is phenomenal, 3 months of smoking is way less than that.
You got this!
So eat well/exercise you’ve done this before, you WILL do it again.

I understand how you feel. Right now I cannot seem to get back to my "diet" and exercising routine. First, lack of energy with covid, a knee problem and other excuses. I am now gaining a bit and am determined to get rid of it. Time to say "Enough is enough". I don't want to return to the way i was.
I am sure you will quit for good when you are ready. You know that you Can do it. What is better in your life now that you are smoking again???
